Austin Peay State University students do service work in Caribbean during Spring Break

Austin Peay State UniversityClarksville, TN – For the second year in a row, a group of Austin Peay State University students spent their spring break in the Caribbean nation of Trinidad and Tobago on an intensive service trip.

This year’s group of 22 students traveled with Dr. Matthew Kenney, director of APSU’s President’s Emerging Leaders Program (PELP), to the small town of Valencia, where they spent a week building three houses with Habitat for Humanity.

Unity Day last Weekend United the City of Clarksville for At Least One Day

Clarksville Unity DayClarksville, TN – On Saturday Hilldale Baptist Church played host to third annual Unity Day celebration. The goal of Unity Day is to build a stronger community by recognizing and joining together religious, governmental and business leaders in fellowship.

Unity Day was founded by Treva Gordon, the owner and publisher of the Convenient Shopper Magazine. “I was watching an awards show on television and I was so inspired by the way they honored the pop star’s and the rap artists. It was wonderful; they had the gift bags, bling bling, the limos, and everything that went with it. That was awesome!” she said to herself.

Budweiser of Clarksville dontates to Habitat for Humanity Women Build 2012

Budweiser of ClarksvilleClarksville, TN – Budweiser of Clarksville made a $1000 donation to Habitat for Humanity Women Build 2012 in an effort to raise $30,000 in sponsorships to build a new home for a qualified low-income Habitat partner family.

Women Build is a women-led committee dedicated to developing resources to build the home. Women from Montgomery County are dedicating their time and experience to raise funds and resources in their community for the effort. City Councilwoman Deanna McLaughlin is leading the campaign.
