Dunbar Cave State Park’s Cooling at the Cave Saturday, July 27th

Dunbar Cave seen from across Swan LakeClarksville, TN – Come out to Dunbar Cave State Park from 3:00pm-5:00pm, Saturday, July 27th, and join the Friends of Dunbar Cave for their annual Cooling at the Cave with music, games and refreshments at the cool cave entrance.

Prior to air conditioning being widely available, locals would gather at Dunbar Cave to enjoy the cool air gently blowing from the mouth of the cave. Many concerts were held there as people would fellowship and beat the heat of summer.

Saturday Event to Benefit Shelter Dogs and Cats

Humane Society of Clarksville – Montgomery County (HSCMC)Clarksville, TN – Dozens of volunteers and local animal advocates have organized an outreach and fundraising event that will be held in the parking lot of Montgomery County Animal Control, 616 North Spring Street, this Saturday, June 15th between 10:00am-4:00pm.

Saturday’s event is inspired by a nationwide effort known as the National No Kill Movement, which challenges animal shelters, animal advocates and communities across the nation to do better. Per the organization’s website: The leading cause of deaths among healthy dogs and cats in the United States is due to killing in shelters.

Ashley Travis and Kylie Eastin Fundraiser at Hilltop Supermarket Saturday, June 15th

Hilltop SupermarketClarksville, TN – There will be a community fundraiser for Ashley Travis and Kylie Eastin Saturday, June 15th at Hilltop Supermarket from 9:00am until 2:00pm.

The two Montgomery Central High School Cheerleaders were injured on May 16th when they crashed head on into a vehicle that had crossed into their lane. Travis is still at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, TN undergoing treatment.

Manna Café Ministries Food Drive this week

Manna Café MinistriesClarksville, TN – Manna Café Ministries’ “Manna Madness” is winding down. There are just have a few days left to make this the best March ever. They will be at Sams Club Thursday and Friday doing a food drive.

Don’t forget “Pack The Bus” Friday at B.A. Wolfe Powersports on Wilma Rudolph Boulevard next to Furnish 123. Their goal is to fill the bus with food donations and their food truck will be cooking up some food for donations as well.

So come out friday and help us close out March with a bang.

Kenwood Elementary School hosts Pennies for Pets Project

Kenwood Elementary SchoolMontgomery County, TN – Montgomery County Animal Control received a wonderful donation from Kenwood Elementary School on Friday, March 22nd.

The school’s Beta Club led the effort, called Pennies for Pets, a three week long service project to help raise money, awareness about animals and collect supplies all benefitting Montgomery County Animal Control.

APSU gearing up for Dance Marathon to benefit Children’s Miracle Network

Austin Peay State UniversityClarksville, TN – For several hours, students at Austin Peay State University will dance the night away, while lending a helping hand, at the annual Dance Marathon.

Go Commando Half Marathon donates $40,000 to Local Organizations

Go Commando Half Marathon and 5kClarksville, TN – The Go Commando Half Marathon and 5k presented by CDE Lightband announced Thursday they would donate $40,000 to local non-profits and community organizations. The largest recipients, Clarksville Area YMCA and Fort Campbell Historical Foundation were on hand to accept the donations.

Montgomery County Government Offices to collect food for Manna Café

Montgomery CountyMontgomery County, TN – The holidays are quickly approaching and it’s the time of year when many in our community need assistance. Montgomery County Government is partnering with Manna Café Ministries to host a county-wide food drive.

All county offices will be collecting non-perishable food items beginning Monday, October 15th and going through the month of November. Donations will be distributed through Manna Café to those needing assistance. If you are interested in donating, look for the box marked Manna Café Food Donation located inside all county offices.

Renowned flutist William Bennett to perform at Austin Peay State University on June 28th

Yard Sale Fundraiser to be held for Brady Conatser June 2nd

Brady ConatserCunningham, TN – There will be a yard sale for Brady Conatser June 2nd starting 9:00am at the Montgomery Central High School parking lot in Cunningham, TN. Donations are still being accepted. The yard sale is to help raise money for equipment that Brady needs for his rehabilitation.

Some of the items include an exercise bike, treadmill, patio set, futon bed, weight set, televisions, antique silver trays, antique glassware, lots of kids toys and clothes. There will also be a band playing.
