Austin Peay State University Dance Program expands Reputation

Clarksville, TN – In 2005, Austin Peay State University developed a dance minor program with one faculty member and a handful of students. Seven years later, the program has three full-time faculty members and several graduates enrolled in Master of Fine Arts programs around the country.
The name “Austin Peay” is also becoming more familiar in collegiate dance circles, with the school having choreographed pieces selected two years in a row to be performed at the American College Dance Festival gala performance.
Clarksville Mayor Kim McMillan introduces Summer Night Lights Program

Clarksville, TN – Clarksville Mayor Kim McMillan, in conjunction with the Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department and the Clarksville Police Department, is introducing a new program for youth and their families. Summer Night Lights is an eight week program, which will run from June 14th through August 3rd on Thursday and Friday nights.
The program will take place at two locations. On Thursdays, the event will be held at the Kleeman Community Center, 166 Cunningham Lane, from 6:00pm–9:30pm. On Friday evenings, it will take place at the Burt-Cobb Community Center/Dixon Park, 1011 Franklin Street, from 6:00pm–10:30pm. [Read more]
Roxy Regional Theatre School of the Arts Acting Classes

Clarksville, TN – The Roxy Regional Theatre School of the Arts has classes for children ages 10 to 18 to learn basic acting techniques, workshop plays, and present a junior production on the mainstage as part of the regular season.
Classes meet every Saturday during the school year from 9:00am until 11:00am. Cost is only $60.00 per month and no pre-registration is required. [Read more]
Organizations Invited to Apply for ABC Grants to Fund Arts Activities

Clarksville, TN – The Clarksville Arts & Heritage Development Council invites organizations seeking funding for artistic and cultural projects that benefit the community to apply for an Arts Build Communities (ABC) grant.
Arts Build Communities (ABC) is a program funded by the Tennessee General Assembly and administered by the Clarksville Arts & Heritage Development Council (AHDC) in cooperation with the Tennessee Arts Commission (TAC). ABC grants offer financial support for arts projects in all disciplines such as dance, music, opera/musical theater, theater, visual arts, design arts, crafts, photography, media arts, literature, interdisciplinary, and folk arts.
Step, dance competition held

This past Saturday, May 15th local high school teams and youth groups competed in a step/dance competition in front of a crowd of at least 250 members of our very supportive Clarksville community at the Emmanuel Family Life Center.
The participants kept audience members engaged with stunning dance and step moves. In the end Kenwood High school JROTC took 1st place, followed by Northeast with 2nd and SMAC (Sisters Making A Change) with 3rd place.
