Kenwood High School students to help sick children through Dance-A-Thon on May 11th

Clarksville, TN – This May, Kenwood High School is on a mission to help sick and injured children in Middle Tennessee. To achieve this ambitious goal, the school’s Dance Marathon, a student-led organization, will host a Dance-A-Thon at noon on May 11th, 2019 at the school.
“We are raising funds and awareness through Dance Marathon for our local Children’s Miracle Network Hospital, which treats children from our area and provides life-saving care to sick and injured kids in need,” Lynda Courtney, Kenwood teacher and event organizer, said. “We need your help to reach our goal for the kids.”

Clarksville, TN – The Community School of the Arts at Austin Peay State University spans all age groups and skill levels, and the offerings continue to grow.
“We’re offering classes for everyone, from little kids to adults, beginner to intermediate to advanced. Our goal, our mission is really being put into practice,” said Dr. Janice Crews, director of APSU Center for Excellence of the Creative Arts (CECA), which runs the school.

Clarksville, TN – The Austin Peay State University Community School of the Arts is about to begin a new session of creative arts courses this spring, offering classes to the public in subjects such as ceramics, art, music and dance.
For more than two decades, the CSA has provided music, art and dance lessons for children and adults throughout Clarksville, and the new spring session is set to begin this week.
APSU’s Watauga Arts Academy looking for high school students interested in the arts

Clarksville, TN – The Watauga Arts Academy, hosted by Austin Peay State University, is a summer program offering high school students the opportunity to participate in a collaborative and creative “think tank” for visual arts, music, dance and theatre.
Watauga is a two-week residential arts camp for students in grades 9-12, with this year’s camp taking place June 14th-27th.

Clarksville, TN – The Clarksville Arts and Heritage Development Council invites organizations seeking funding for artistic and cultural projects that benefit the community to apply for an Arts Build Communities (ABC) grant.
Arts Build Communities (ABC) is a program funded by the Tennessee Arts Commission and administered by the Clarksville Arts and Heritage Development Council (AHDC) in cooperation with the Tennessee Arts Commission (TAC).
ABC grants offer financial support for arts projects in all disciplines such as dance, music, opera/musical theatre, theatre, visual arts, design arts, crafts, photography, media arts, literature, interdisciplinary and folk arts.

APSU’s Christopher Burawa invited to serve on Tennessee Art Commission panel

Clarksville, TN – Christopher Burawa, director of the Austin Peay State University Center of Excellence for the Creative Arts, was recently invited to serve on the Tennessee Arts Commission’s 2014 Citizen Advisory Panel in Nashville, TN.
The panelists, who are nominated, meet once a year to offer advice on program planning and to review grant applications. In addition, they serve as year-round resources to the Tennessee Arts Commission staff as advocates for the arts in their communities.
New Watauga Summer Arts Camp at APSU now accepting applications
