Wade Neely joins Clarksville Sports Network

Clarksville, TN – Wade Neely has joined Wjzm radio to join the Clarksville Sports Network in 2012. Neely comes to WJZM after 21 months as the Sports Director of WKSR AM-FM in Pulaski, Tennessee. Neely was hired, after a nationwide search, to join former Leaf Chronicle sports writer, James Horne, in launching a new sports show on 1400 Wjzm, “From the Sidelines,” weekday afternoons, 3:00pm-6:00pm. Neely will also be a staff writer for Clarksvillesportsnetwork.com, expected to be online in 2012.

Hank Bonecutter, President of Cumberland Radio Partners Inc., owners of Wjzm radio, is excited about the new venture. “We saw an opportunity to provide the Clarksville area with a more complete package of sports reporting, focusing on local sports, and the people who are involved in them. Clarksville, TN – The next meeting of the Clarksville (TN) Civil War Roundtable will be on Wednesday, December 21st, 2011 at the Bone & Joint Center, 980 Professional Park Drive, right across the street from Gateway Hospital. This is just off Dunlop Lane and Holiday Drive and only a few minutes east of Governor’s Square mall. The meeting begins at 7:00 pm and is always open to the public.

Clarksville, TN – The Clarksville Area Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce Denny Fry as its new Membership Recruitment Representative.

Denny joins the Chamber after spending the last several years working as a freelance graphic design and marketing professional. Originally from the St. Louis area, Denny moved to Tennessee with his family and attended Tennessee Tech. There he received his B.A. in English and Journalism which eventually led him to Knoxville TN.

Kleeman Community Center Christmas Outreach Program

Clarksville, TN – Tuesday, December 13th, the Kleeman Community Center was filled with hopeful children awaiting Santa Claus to grace them with an early appearance.

The program was organized by Kleeman Community Center Director Tonya Wacker, who had this to say, “It’s unfortunate for some members of our community that this will be the only taste of Christmas they will be able to experience. My desire is to spread hope and holiday cheer to uplift their spirits.”

Indoor Aquatic Center at New Providence clarifies Pricing

Clarksville, TN – The Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department would like to clarify the admission price to the Indoor Aquatic Center at New Providence. Weekday admission is $3.00 and weekend admission is $5.00.

This is in reference to a recently printed event listing promoting the Indoor Aquatic Opening Season with “free swimming.” The free swim promotion took place in October and the event listing is just an unintentional misprint.

Austin Peay State University presents New Coin to Active Duty Veterans

Clarksville, TN – On Wednesday December 14th, 2001, Austin Peay State University President Tim Hall presented Command Sgt. Maj. Wayne P. St. Louis with Austin Peay State University’s new military coin during a ceremony honoring active duty and military veteran graduates at the APSU Music/Mass Communication Building Concert Hall.

Indoor Aquatic Center offers Adaptive Swim Lessons for special needs patrons

Clarksville, TN – Registration is underway for the Clarksville Parks & Recreation Department’s very first Adaptive Swimming course at the Indoor Aquatic Center at New Providence, located at 166 Cunningham Lane. The opening session begins January 2nd.

Adaptive Swim Lessons is a program designed to teach swim skills, increase swimmer’s knowledge of safety around the water, maintain and increase physical fitness, achieve success, and receive recognition within an aquatic environment.
