National Science Foundation-funded program at APSU awards 16 scholarships for students to study STEM disciplines

Clarksville, TN – A new National Science Foundation-funded program at Austin Peay State University recently awarded 16 scholarships to community college transfer students, active duty military personnel, veterans and dependents interested in earning a bachelor’s degree in the science, technology, engineering or math (STEM) disciplines for the 2012-13 academic year.
The project, titled “Increasing the Number of Regional Community College Graduates and Active Duty Military Personnel, Veterans and Dependents Enrolling in and Completing a STEM Baccalaureate Degree,” awarded scholarships to nine APSU students and one Volunteer State Community College student thanks to the more than $500,000 the NSF is providing APSU over the next five years. APSU Culinary Students showcase talent at Chocolate Affair

Clarksville, TN – Students in the culinary degree program at the Austin Peay Center at Fort Campbell teamed up with the Fort Campbell culinary team for the recent Chocolate Affair community event organized by the Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department.
Together, both programs won the “Best Creative Use of Chocolate” Award at the event, which was sponsored by the City of Clarksville and held Saturday, February 9th at the Wilma Rudolph Event Center.

Registration is now open for the 35th Annual Queen City Road Race featuring new 7K Race

Clarksville, TN – It’s that time of year again to lace up those running shoes and begin preparing for the 35th Annual Queen City Road Race scheduled for Saturday, May 4th.
The Queen City Road Race event is a Clarksville tradition promoting fitness and fun for all ages. The 7K and 5K race route takes runners through the streets of Historic Downtown Clarksville, beginning and ending at Austin Peay State University’s Governors Stadium, while the One Mile Movement takes you on an exciting tour of a portion of the APSU campus.
For over thirty years, hundreds of Clarksville-Montgomery County and Fort Campbell school students, teachers and family members have participated in this Clarksville tradition. [Read more]
APSU’s English as Second Language Institute announces Spring Registration

Clarksville, TN – Language should not be a barrier for those needing to communicate in English as a second language.
Those needing to improve their English language skills are encouraged to register for six-week sessions at the English as Second Language (ESL) Institute at Austin Peay State University. Planters Bank Supports Northeast Middle School Robotics Team

Clarksville, TN – Representatives from Planters Bank recently presented a check to the Northeast Middle School robotics teams.
The Northeast Electric Eagles Gold First LEGO League (FLL) robotics team recently won the First Place Champion’s Award and the Blue FLL team won the Robotic Programming Award at the West Tennessee State Championship held at the University of Memphis on December 8th, 2012.

APSU hosting career fair for students in STEM field

Clarksville, TN – The Austin Peay State University College of Science and Mathematics will host a career fair from 10:00am to 2:00pm on February 27th, in the Morgan University Center Ballroom.
