Clarksville, TN – The next meeting of the Clarksville (TN) Civil War Roundtable will be on Wednesday, February 20th, 2013 at the Bone & Joint Center, 980 Professional Park Drive, right across the street from Gateway Medical Center. This is just off Dunlop Lane and Holiday Drive and only a few minutes east of Governor’s Square mall. The meeting begins at 7:00 pm and is always open to the public. APSU Spring Salon Series event to feature ancient Chinese harp

Clarksville, TN – The sound is immediately recognizable. When a musician bends over a guzheng – an old Chinese harp – and plucks at its 21 strings, soothing, ancient music vibrates through the air.
For thousands of years, listeners have associated those slow, deliberate songs with idyllic images of rural China.
Clarksville Police Break Ground on Scenario House

Clarksville, TN – The Clarksville Police Department broke ground today on a long awaited Scenario House. The Scenario House will enhance the training capabilities of the department by providing a realistic training environment.
The Scenario House became a reality through the economic support of Clarksville Mayor Kim McMillan, Clarksville City Council, and the citizens of Clarksville.

Local schools compete in 8th Annual Black History Bowl at Austin Peay State University

Clarksville, TN – Earlier this month, dozens of middle and high school students stopped by the Austin Peay State University campus to participate in the Eighth Annual Black History Bowl.
“We had a good attendance with three middle school teams competing against each other and three high school teams competing against each other,” Dr. Barbara Peterson, APSU associate professor of education, said. “There was a heightened level of excitement and anticipation for this year’s event.” [Read more]

The Clarksville Downtown Market is currently seeking vendors of all types; vendors selling local produce, dairy, honey, flowers, cheeses, meats, food products, baked goods/breads, artisan items are strongly encouraged to apply, but all applicants will be considered. All items must be handmade, homegrown or gathered by the seller or family member.
The 2013 market season will take place on Public Square, every Saturday from 8:00am to 1:00pm, beginning May 18th through October 19th. [Read more]
