Clarksville, TN – The December Employment Report was a mixed bag. Nonfarm payrolls rose a disappointing 74,000 (median forecast: +195,000, although market participants were anticipating an upside surprise following a stronger-than-expected ADP estimate).
The November payroll figure was revised to +241,000 (from +203,000). Manufacturing rose by 9,000. Construction fell by 16,000, with weakness concentrated in nonresidential and in heavy construction and civil engineering (residential rose 6,200).

Tennessee Association of Craft Artists Show at Clarksville’s Customs House Museum

Clarksville, TN – Twenty four members of TACA will exhibit woodturnings, ceramics, tapestries, and embroideries; as well as, traditional paintings and photography at the museum this month.
Most Tennesseans are familiar with the TACA (Tennessee Association of Craft Artists) Craft Fairs that take over Nashville’s Centennial Park every year. The events have repeatedly been ranked as one of the “Top Twenty Events in the Southeast” by the Southeast Tourism Society.
Copper pieces by Nashville artist Ben Caldwell are part of the Tennessee Association of Craft Artists exhibit at the Customs House Museum.

Aspire Clarksville to Kickoff new Fundraising Campaign in February

Clarksville, TN – Aspire Clarksville, an economic development foundation to benefit Clarksville-Montgomery County, Tennessee, will officially launch its new campaign at a kickoff breakfast in early February.
The new, five-year, campaign aims to raise nearly $3.8 million for local business development, which is anticipated to bring over 3,500 jobs to the area.

Sixth annual Empty Bowls Clarksville expands Hope Not Hunger fundraiser to six congregations in 2014.
Clarksville, TN – The problems associated with hunger and food insecurity are not confined to the nation’s largest cities. With over seventeen percent of Clarksville residents living below the poverty level, hunger and food insecurity are a harsh reality for many people in our community.
That means that hundreds of working adults, children and seniors in our community struggle with hunger every day. Food insecurity refers to the availability of food and access to it. Those who are considered food insecure do not know when they will have their next meal.
