Austin Peay State University Art + Design Building opens with ribbon cutting ceremony on September 12th

Clarksville, TN – After decades of rumors, speculations and wild hopes, a visual arts building is finally opening on the Austin Peay State University campus.
At 5:30pm on Tuesday, September 12th, 2017, the University will host a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new Art + Design Building, followed by the dedication of a donor wall and six rooms named after donors, a reception and a building tour.

Total Solar Eclipse Signals Biggest Day in Clarksville Regional Airport History

Clarksville, TN – The Great American Eclipse of 2017 on August 21st was a once-in-a-lifetime event for many in Clarksville. But for Clarksville Regional Airport it was also a historic milestone that eclipsed all previous single day aircraft traffic records at the public-use airport.
The airport embraced its role as the “front door to Middle Tennessee” and invited people from across the world to fly-in to the facility located near the Tennessee-Kentucky state line to experience the total solar eclipse.

A variety of aircraft, ranging from light-sport aircraft to multi- passenger charter jets, flew into Clarksville Regional Airport August 21st to witness the Great American Eclipse of 2017. More than 160 aircraft landed at the airport to view the eclipse, with planes arriving from as far away as England and Canada.

Clarksville, TN – Next week, the economic calendar picks up, with the important figures (nonfarm payrolls, ISM manufacturing) arriving as market participants get set for the three-day weekend. Consumer confidence figures will cover the first half of the month and are therefore unlikely to reflect much of an impact from Charlottesville.
Second quarter GDP growth is likely to be revised higher in the 2nd estimate (a 2.6% pace in the advance estimate).
Montgomery County’s RichEllen Park holds Total Solar Eclipse viewing event

Clarksville, TN – On Monday, August 21st, 2017, Montgomery County Parks and Recreation held a Total Solar Eclipse viewing event at RichEllen Park. The event started at 10:00am and lasted until 3:00pm. The event was free and open to the public.
Hundreds of people came out to enjoy the park, good food and mingle with neighbors, family and friends. Montgomery Central Little League was manning the concession stand making fresh hamburgers, hotdogs, etc, available for purchase. All proceeds from concessions sales went to the League.

Liberty Park will host film, date night, and concert
Clarksville, TN – Movies in the Park, the City of Clarksville’s free, outdoor movie series, continues on Saturday, September 23rd, 2017 with the showing of the award-winning “La La Land” at Liberty Park’s amphitheater, 1188 Cumberland Drive.
Pre-show activities, coordinated by the Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department, will begin at 5:00pm.
Welcome Home Veterans Parade Planned for September 16th

Clarksville, TN – Clarksville’s third annual Welcome Home Veterans parade is scheduled for Saturday, September 16th, 2017 at 10:00am in historic downtown.
“Originally created to honor Vietnam Veterans, the parade now a tribute by Vietnam Veterans to all American Heroes. This is a day for families, friends and all citizens to salute the service and sacrifices made by America’s Military,” said Visit Clarksville Board Chairman Jerry Allbert.

APSU Department of Art + Design unveils 2017-2018 exhibition and visiting artist schedule

Clarksville, TN – The Austin Peay State University Department of Art + Design recently unveiled its 2017-18 season of exhibitions and visiting speakers. Generously supported by the APSU Center of Excellence for the Creative Arts (CECA), the Department of Art + Design is able to bring nationally and internationally recognized artists and thinkers directly to Clarksville with programming that is free and open to the public.
