Lighted Boat Parade

Riverfest 2010Sit back and watch as the Cumberland River is illuminated in a majestic display of floating lights during the 3rd Annual Riverfest Lighted Boat Parade to be held Saturday, September 11th at 8:00pm. Don’t want to just be a bystander in the show? Enter your boat in the festivities and you may even come home with an award!

Judging will take place at the McGregor Park courtesy boat dock. The event will be hosted by the Montgomery County Conservation Club. Locations throughout McGregor Park during the Riverfest Celebration will offer public viewing. [Read more]

“Senior Saturday” at the Kleeman Community Center this Saturday

Clarksville Parks and RecreationJoin us this Saturday, July 31st from 3:00pm to 5:00pm for “Senior Saturday” at the Kleeman Community Center located at 166 Cunningham Lane. The City of Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department’s invites those young at heart to come out and take part in various games and fun to include pickle ball, badminton, volleyball, and much more. This event is free and open to seniors ages 50 and up.

Family Campout to be Rescheduled

Clarksville Parks and RecreationThe City of Clarksville’s Parks and Recreation Department’s Family Campout that was scheduled for this weekend, July 24th-25th, has been cancelled due to a low number of registrants. However, the campout will be rescheduled to October 16th-17th.

The Family Campout will include an afternoon and evening of games as well as a hot dog dinner and breakfast. Families will need to provide their own tent and sleeping materials. Children must be accompanied by an adult at all times. Don’t miss out on your chance to sleep under the stars, pre-register by October 8th, 2010 at the Parks & Recreation Main office located at 102 Public Square or any of our three community centers.

Summer Youth Program to End with the “Informance” and Field Day

Clarksville Parks and RecreationThe City of Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department’s six week Summer Youth Program will come to an end Friday, July 16th. The day-camp type program which is offered each summer to youth ages 6-16 at no cost will bus all of its participants to Heritage Park for a Field Day. Games will be held from 10:00am-2:00pm, with a break for lunch from 11:30am-noon. Games will then resume and the Field Day festivities will conclude with the announcement of the winners. [Read more]

Zumba Classes to Begin

Clarksville Parks and RecreationThe City of Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department will soon be offering Zumba classes once again! Join us beginning July 14th, Wednesday’s from 6:30pm-7:30pm and Friday’s from 5:00pm-6:00pm at the Crow Community Center located at 211 Richview Road for this popular music and dance program.

Zumba is a fitness class that features interval training sessions that incorporates fast and slow rhythms with resistance training. [Read more]

Sleep Under the Stars at the Parks and Recreation Family Campout

The City of Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department invites you to sleep under the stars at Billy Dunlop Park. Join us for a family camp out beginning Saturday, July 24th at 2:00pm until Sunday, July 25th at 9:00am. Activities will include a bonfire, archery, games, ghost stories and much more!

The Family Campout is $10.00 per person and will include an afternoon and evening of games as well as a hot dog dinner and breakfast. Families will need to provide their own tent and sleeping materials. Children must be accompanied by an adult at all times.
