Devotional from Brother Shepherd

June 12, 2011

Jesus Son of GodBecause of some recent deaths of some friends, my thoughts have been about Heaven. In the book of John Chapter 14, verses 1-6, it reads John 14:1-6

NKJV

“Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me.

2 In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.

3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also. [Read more]

All the Leaves have fallen

January 23, 2011

Written by Brother Shepherd

Winter SceneWinter can be a drab time of the year, the leafs have left the trees, the grass has died, no crops in the fields. It is as nature has left and gone south.

Some times we fell all alone. That’s kind of the way I fell today. I’m setting on the couch, Hersey, our dog, is sleeping here with me. The TV is off. All is quit I fell like the world has stop and let me off.

Winter can be a time to be hopeful because we know that summer is coming, it always has and it always will. [Read more]

Daily Devotional from Brother Shepherd

Morning SunriseGood morning! Good morning! Good morning! “It is a day that the Lord has made. Let us rejoice and be glad in it.” There is an old song that says, “Every Day with Jesus is Sweeter than the Day Before”. I wonder sometimes why that is true and I’ve come to the conclusion that if I learn a little bit more about Jesus and His character and His love for me that each day does get a little more sweeter.

In a few days my wife will be celebrating her birthday and I might add she gets sweeter each day, (now that ought to get me in good with her). [Read more]

Let’s dive into Jesus

August 29, 2010

A Devotional By Brother Shepherd

Diving into waterToday I’m thinking about swimming and how refreshing it is to jump in or dive into the deep water. You are submerged and you become lighter.

A great book in the Bible about diving into Jesus, is the book of Colossians. In the 2nd chapter of Philippians verse 5 it says, “Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ,” that is kind of like jumping in the deep end of the water. Colossians tells us in the 2nd chapter verse 10, “And you are complete in Him, who is the head of all principality and power.” We are submerged in Christ and we are complete in Christ. [Read more]

Believers and Unbelievers

August 1, 2010

A Devotional By Brother Shepherd

Colosseum in RomeWell, here it is Sunday again. I was reading in the scriptures in Acts 28. The Apostle Paul was preaching at Rome in that 28th chapter, verse 24 and it reads, “And some believed the things that were spoken, and some not.” This scripture says there were some there that became believers and some remained unbelievers: two different categories.

One group joined one category by what they believed and the other joined that category by what they didn’t believe. The Bible says, “Believe in the Lord Jesus Christ and thou shall be saved.” I hope you believe because where you spend eternity, (Heaven or Hell) depends on it.

This is Bro. Shep asking you to think about it.

I saw Jesus

July 11, 2010

A Devotional By Brother Shepherd

JesusI saw Jesus last week. He was wearing blue jeans and an old shirt. He was up at the church building. He was alone and working hard. For just a minute he looked a little like one of our members. But it was Jesus, I could tell by his smile.

I saw Jesus last Sunday. He was teaching a Bible class. He didn’t talk real loud or use long words. But it was Jesus. I could tell by his loving voice.

I saw Jesus yesterday. He was at the hospital visiting a friend who was sick. They prayed together quietly. For just a minute he looked like Brother Jones. But it was Jesus. I could tell by the tears in his eyes.

I saw Jesus this morning. He was in my kitchen making my breakfast and fixing me a special lunch. For just a minute he looked like my mom. But it was Jesus. I could feel the love from his heart. [Read more]

Dive in and submerge yourself
