Clarksville Transit System’s Paul Nelson named Director

Clarksville, TN – Clarksville Transit System (CTS) senior manager Paul Nelson, who has served as Interim Director since July, has been selected as CTS Director, Clarksville Mayor Joe Pitts announced.
“Paul has been involved in many aspects of our CTS operation for several years, and he stepped up and did a fine job as Interim Director,” Mayor Pitts said.

Clarksville, TN – Retired Lt. Gen Ronald Bailey, Austin Peay State University vice president for external affairs, will be the guest speaker at APSU’s Summer 2018 Military and Veteran Graduate Recognition Ceremony this August.
The ceremony, set for 5:00pm on August 8th, 2018 in the APSU Morgan University Center, honors the University’s graduating students who are either veterans, active-duty military personnel, reservists or members of the National Guard.

Several APSU faculty, staff announce recent activities

Clarksville, TN – Several faculty and staff members at Austin Peay State University announce their recent professional and scholarly activities.
Dr. Edward Wayne Chester, professor emeritus in the department of biology and the Center of Excellence for Field Biology, was presented the Conservation Award for 2011 at the annual meeting of the Tennessee Native Plant Society in September.
The award is given yearly to a person who has long advocated and supported the conservation and stewardship of Tennessee’s natural resources, especially native plants. Chester taught various biology and botany classes, conducted research and published numerous papers on the plant life of Tennessee and the southeast for more than 40 years. He currently teaches adjunct classes in biology and continues his research and writing. [Read more]
APSU PKP chapter collecting books for Candy for the Mind

Clarksville, TN – For the ninth consecutive Halloween, the Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi (PKP) at Austin Peay State University is collecting new and gently used children’s books for its Candy for the Mind project. Members of the campus and local community are invited to support this effort through donations of books or funds for the purchase of books.
Through this project, PKP distributed more than 1,500 books to community children during last year’s G.H.O.S.T. (Great Halloween Options for Safe Trick-or-Treating), the on-campus alternative for safe trick-or-treating. [Read more]
APSU Phi Kappa Phi chapter awarded top distinction

Clarksville, TN – The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi (PKP) at Austin Peay State University is one of 11 chapters in the nation to earn the Chapter of Excellence distinction for 2010-11.
PKP headquarters in Baton Rouge, LA, formally announced APSU’s achievement on September 21st. Another 21 chapters were honored with the Chapter of Merit award.
According to the national PKP, the Chapter of Excellence is given to chapters that excel in recognizing and promoting academic excellence in all fields of higher education and engaging the community of scholars in service to others.
