Customs House Museum & Cultural CenterClarksville, TN – On May 21st, 1881, 140 years ago, Clara Burton founded the American Red Cross on the basis of wanting to help others in distress. Barton risked her life to bring supplies and support to soldiers in the field during the Civil War.

Over the last 140 years, the American Red Cross has expanded to provide many services to members of the American armed forces and their families, as well as provide disaster relief in the United States and around the world.

Blood bank shortage inspires APSU Health and Human Performance faculty to host blood drive

Last week, Tennessee Governor Bill Lee called on the state’s residents to help end the blood bank shortage, and even the American Cancer Society is pleading for people to donate because, according to that organization, “blood transfusions save millions of lives in the United States every year.”

American Red CrossNashville, TN – Winter storms and the flu don’t just mean a lot of people are missing work and school – it also means they can’t keep their American Red Cross blood and platelet donation appointments.

The Red Cross is urging healthy donors of all blood types to roll up a sleeve to help maintain the blood supply for patients in need.

Appleton Harley-Davidson / BuellClarksville, TN – Appleton’s Harley Davidson hosted its annual Christmas party Saturday. Tia Suiter says this is a tradition that was started long ago by the company’s founders, who believed that everyone should have a Christmas dinner.

“With us being in a military town, there are so many who don’t have the opportunity to be with their family at Christmas,” Suiter said. “They are serving their country, so we’ve continued the tradition, and it has become such a privilege for us to do this each year. We feel this is a gift that we can provide to our community.”

F&M Bank Blood Drive to be held October 2nd

F&M BankClarksville, TN – On October 2nd, 2017, the Blood Assurance Blood Mobile and the F&M FunMobile are teaming up for a Blood Drive at F&M Bank’s Main Office parking lot located at 50 Franklin Street in Downtown Clarksville. The event will go from 10:00am until 3:00pm.

Blood Assurance will be giving all donors a FREE “One Cool Donor” t-shirt and your choice of “I Bleed” football themed socks! You will also be entered to win a $250.00 gift card to Walmart!

The F&M FunMobile will be on site with FREE hot dogs, popcorn and drinks!!
