Graduation gala returns to Austin Peay State University February 29th, March 1st

February 19, 2016

APSU Graduation GalaClarksville, TN – Last October, the Austin Peay State University Registrar’s Office decided to have a little fun. Instead of hosting its annual Grad Finale to make sure seniors were ready to graduate that December, the office threw a celebratory party called the Graduation Gala.

“We saw a significant, 17 percent increase in participation,” Telaina Wrigley, APSU registrar, said. “It turned into a functional event for the graduates, as well as a celebration. They celebrated with their friends, but they also had the ability to resolve any outstanding issues and take care of any business.”

APSU’s Graduation Gala celebrates and supports upcoming graduates

September 12, 2015

Austin Peay State University - APSUClarksville, TN – The black cap and gown, neatly folded and protected by a plastic sleeve, has a seemingly divine quality to it. When a college senior first picks up this graduation regalia, several weeks before commencement, his or her face usually softens, and for a very brief moment, the student knows only joy.

The feeling sometimes fades when the person realizes there’s no one around to share their excitement, but this fall, the Austin Peay State University Registrar’s Office is hosting a special event—the Fall 2015 Graduation Gala—to celebrate these students.

March 25, 2015

Austin Peay State University - APSUClarksville, TN – During a presidential election year, names like Hillary and Sarah often stand out because all the other candidates stumping for votes are usually men.

The question of why women often shy away from politics has troubled Dr. Marsha Lyle-Gonga, chair of the Austin Peay State University Department of Political Science, since she was a doctoral student, and in 2010 she decided to host an event to encourage a new generation of women to get involved in the political process.
