Clarksville, TN – During its June meeting, the Austin Peay State University (APSU) Board of Trustees approved six new graduate certificates, which will be offered through the APSU College of Graduate Studies this fall.
Earlier this year, the University began offering graduate education programs, providing working professionals with the training and credentials they need to enhance and elevate their careers.

Acuff Circle of Excellence announces Ovation Award winners

Clarksville, TN – A major financial supporter of Austin Peay State University, whose contributions to the arts at the school, are legion. A founding member of the Downtown Artists Co-op and the Friends of Photography, who also is an accomplished artist.
A civic organization that keeps the Southern heritage of fiddling alive. And, a company that has consistently supported the arts, in addition to a multitude of other community endeavors for many years.

APSU to Have Increased Autonomy with Local Governing Board
Clarksville, TN – Tennessee Governor Bill Haslam has appointed eight individuals to the newly created institutional governing board at Austin Peay State University.
The purpose of the appointments is to give the University increased autonomy to support student success as the state continues its Drive to 55 Initiative. Austin Peay State University’s governing board is one of six to be appointed by the governor, a result of the governor’s FOCUS Act passed by the Tennessee General Assembly earlier this year.
Ard, Morton honored at Austin Peay State University’s Annual Scholarship Donor Dinner

Clarksville, TN – On April 26th, during Austin Peay State University’s Annual Scholarship Donor Dinner, Wayne Ard, and his late wife, Marianne, and Ron Morton were honored for their strong support of the University.
Ard, president of Ard Construction,received the 2016 Tennessee Board of Regents’ Award for Excellence in Philanthropy. Morton, owner of the largest number of H&R Block franchises in the country, was presented with the University’s 2016 Academic Advocate Award.

Clarksville, TN – The coveted Acuff Circle of Excellence Ovation Awards in the arts will be presented March 6th, 2016, but nominations already are being sought.
The Circle, a non-profit organization affiliated with the Austin Peay State University Foundation, is a patron society of the Center of Excellence for the Creative Arts. The awards have been presented since 1996.
The nominees must have made significant contributions to the artistic and cultural life of the Clarksville-Montgomery County community. Anyone can submit nominations. Nominations will be accepted now through Wednesday, January 20th, 2016 [Read more]

New APSU student health building named after Wayne and Marianne Ard

Clarksville, TN – Earlier this year, Wayne Ard, president of Ard Construction, met Austin Peay State University President Alisa White for breakfast at a local restaurant. The conversation that morning quickly turned to Ard’s wife, Marianne, who passed away a few months earlier in December 2014.
“My wife was an education freak,” Ard told President White. “She felt that every high school student should have a college education. She said that education was something you can’t get too much of. So today, in Marianne’s honor, I’ll make a pledge to you.”

APSU supporter Don Jenkins receives Tennessee Board of Regents Chancellor’s Award

Clarksville, TN – Don Jenkins, president and CEO of Jenkins & Wynne Ford-Lincoln-Honda, was presented with the Tennessee Board of Regents 2015 Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Philanthropy earlier this month in recognition of his years of service to Austin Peay State University.
“Mr. Jenkins is a true friend and supporter of this University,” John Morgan, TBR Chancellor, said during the annual APSU Foundation Dinner on June 2nd.

Acuff Circle to honor Mabrys at Jazz in June event

Clarksville, TN – The Acuff Circle of Excellence will honor George and Sharon Mabry at the organization’s summertime Jazz in June on June 12th. The event, from 5:30pm to 7:00pm, will be at Beachaven Vineyards and Winery, and the public is invited.
The Circle, a non-profit organization affiliated with the Austin Peay State University Foundation, serves as a patron society of the University’s Center of Excellence for the Creative Arts, and advances the importance of arts and culture at the University and in the community. The endowed Acuff Circle of Excellence Arts Scholarship is awarded each year to an APSU student majoring in the fine arts.
