Event featuring popular environmental lawyer Robert F. Kennedy Jr. rescheduled for March 2nd
Clarksville, TN – His reputation as a resolute defender of the environment that stems from a litany of successful legal actions, Robert F. Kennedy Jr. will be the special guest speaker for the annual Unity Celebration at Austin Peay State University.
Kennedy will speak at 7:00pm, Wednesday, March 2nd in the Memorial Health Gym (Red Barn) on APSU’s main campus as part of the annual Student Affairs Unity Celebration. The event is free and open to the public. [Read more]
Montgomery County Dedication Event at Veterans Plaza
Montgomery County, TN – County Mayor Carolyn Bowers dedicated the Robert E. Thompson Memorial Garden and re-dedicated the William O. Beach Civic Hall, at Veterans Plaza, Wednesday, February 16th, 2011 at 2:30pm.
Provost Lecture Series at APSU to explore stage fright
Clarksville, TN – The next Provost Lecture Series at Austin Peay State University will explore performance anxiety/stage fright as a nemesis in the lives of some professors and students.
Dr. Thomas King, professor of music, will present “Weak Knees? Sweaty Palms? The Anxiety Doctor Can Help” from 3:00pm-4:30pm, Thursday, February 17th in the Morgan University Center, Room 308. The event is free and open to the public. [Read more]
APSU Military History Program Continues to Get National Exposure
Clarksville, TN – The Master of Arts in military history is a relatively young program at Austin Peay State University, receiving approval from the Tennessee Board of Regents only four years ago, but it is already garnering a national reputation as a respected degree program. That’s because the University’s M.A. in military history has received some rather prominent publicity in the last few years, including a recent article in the American Historical Association’s publication “Perspectives in History.”
The AHA, founded in 1884, is the largest historical society in the country. The article in its journal touts the APSU program’s “new military history” approach that stresses the relationship between war and society. [Read more]
Graduate education to be celebrated in March at APSU with 2 events
Clarksville, TN – At the beginning of next month, Austin Peay State University will celebrate graduate education with two back-to-back events to promote and showcase the scholarship and creativity seen in the next level of postsecondary education.
First, undergraduate students can learn about APSU’s career-enhancing online and on-site graduate programs at the Graduate Education Event anytime between 10:00am-2:00pm, Tuesday, March 1st in the Morgan University Center, rooms 303 and 305. [Read more]
Award entries are being sought
Clarksville, TN – Nominations are now being accepted for the first-ever Clarksville Sports Festival Legends Awards. The City of Clarksville Parks & Recreation Department and Legends Bank have partnered in an effort to honor both current and past coaches who are or have made a unique difference and solid contribution to sports and athletics in the Clarksville-Montgomery County area.
APSU Grad Finale for Spring 2011 graduates
Clarksville, TN – Students scheduled to graduate in May from Austin Peay State University will have an opportunity to participate in Grad Finale, an event designed to make sure all preparations have been made for spring commencement.
Grad Finale will be from 2:00pm-6:00pm, February 28th and from 10:00am-2:00pm, March 1st. Both sessions will be in the Morgan University Center Ballroom.
Students need to bring a form of identification, including their student I.D. or driver’s license, with them to this event. [Read more]

APSU Professor and Students Author Paper on Groundbreaking Biofuel Research
Clarksville, TN – As the demand for biodiesel fuel increases across the globe – it is predicted to reach 12 billion liters this year – a previously unforeseen complication has arisen in the production process.
