Spring Clean Up
Clarksville, TN – Clarksville Street Department will begin its annual Spring Clean Up on March 21st, when crews will pick up yard debris, leaves and limbs at city residents.
Yard debris, such as leaves, must be placed in biodegradable paper bags and placed near the street. Tree limbs must be in lengths of four feet or less. The Street Department will not pick up limbs pruned by a commercial company. The clean-up service will continue through April 8th.
In order to schedule a picked up, contact the Street Department at 931-645-7464 between 7:00am and 3:30pm Monday through Friday.
5th Annual Clarksville Fox Easter Egg Hunt
Clarksville, TN – The Clarksville Fox Woman’s Football Team is hosting its 5th annual Easter Egg Hunt Saturday April 16th at 10:00am.
Come out to the Northwest Football field and join in on the fun.

Clarksville Parks & Recreation announces new Historical Interpreter
Clarksville, TN – The Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department is pleased to announce the newest member of our staff and Historical Interpreter, William Parker. Parker graduated from Austin Peay State University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in History and Political Science.
He was selected by the History Department to study at Oxford University in Oxford, England where he completed two semesters. Parker earned his Master of Arts Degree in Military History at Austin Peay where he graduated with honors.
Faculty, staff at APSU bring pride to University
Clarksville, TN – Three faculty and staff employees at Austin Peay State University recently achieved accolades in their scholarly and professional activities.
Dr. Thomas King, professor of music, sang the world premiere performance of Libby Larsen’s “I Cried unto the Lord with my Voice” at the Athena Women’s Music Festival held March 2nd at Murray (Ky.) State University. His wife, Dr. Vicki King, piano professor at Tennessee State University, had the song commissioned for his 65th birthday. [Read more]
BACH receives Excalibur Award
Fort Campbell, KY – Moralisa Resto thought her son Jose had outgrown his childhood asthma. After the Resto family moved to Fort Campbell, Jose was in and out of the Emergency Room. The 13-year-old’s multiple visits to the ER were caught by Blanchfield Army Community Hospital’s population health nurses and nurse case managers who referred Jose and his mother to the Asthma Educator.
The Army Surgeon General recently recognized Blanchfield Army Community Hospital for using systems and initiatives like this to help patients partner in their health and wellness. [Read more]
Traditional and roth IRA limits and deadlines
Clarksville, TN – The deadline to make a 2010 IRA contribution is April 18th, 2011. The contribution limit is $5,000.00 for individuals under age 50 and $6,000.00 for individuals over age 50. The same limits are in place for 2011 IRA contributions.

APSU’s Hamilton publishes long-awaited paper on new insect species
Clarksville, TN – In the eastern highlands of Brazil, near the densely populated city of Rio de Janerio, there exists many streams and rivers where caddisfly larvae thrive and over which the adults swim and mate. The tiny, drab-colored insects are related to moths and butterflies, but rather than having scale-covered wings like their familiar cousins, the wings are covered by small hairs.
But human expansion and development, in an effort to make room for the region’s millions of people, is threatening the habitats of these insects, and they are in danger of disappearing from the earth without anyone, even scientists, knowing of their existence. [Read more]

APSU Public Relations and Marketing recognized for promotional work
Clarksville, TN – The Office of Public Relations and Marketing at Austin Peay State University has been recognized by the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) – Southeast District III for its promotional work.
The University received an Award of Excellence distinction in the category of audiovisual communication-television. The commercial selected for the honor is “The Serious Side,” produced by the APSU PR and Marketing Office and Focal Point Productions. [Read more]
