Clarksville, TN – The City of Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department invites citizens to bring school supplies to Bel-Aire Pool this Saturday, July 13th.
Admission is free to those who bring school supplies from the approved school supply list Saturday. The school supply list can be found online.

Clarksville, TN – If you regret not purchasing a Clarksville City Saver coupon book from one of the thousands of Clarksville Montgomery County School kids earlier this school year, the Humane Society of Clarksville-Montgomery County is giving you a second chance through this Sunday, July 14th.
Purchasing a book through the Humane Society will help kids and animals, because 50% of your purchase will go to CMCSS and 50% will go to the Humane Society.

APSU Communication Professor, Student produce Dix Documentary to air this Month
Clarksville, TN – Anyone who has visited the Dorothy Dix Collection at Austin Peay State University knows that the collection tells only a portion of a woman who was the forerunner of today’s popular advice columnists and America’s most widely read and highest paid journalists.
A new documentary, written and produced by an APSU faculty member and a student, will shed more light on Dix’s life and career when it airs on television later this month. [Read more]
Austin Peay State University provost Dr. Tristan Denley to take position as vice chancellor at Tennessee Board of Regents
Clarksville, TN – APSU’s chief academic official, Dr. Tristan Denley who currently serves as Provost, has informed the campus community that he has accepted a position with the Tennessee Board of Regents (TBR) as Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, pending an official vote by the TBR.
Tentative plans are for Denley to begin in his new role with TBR in August.

Dunbar Cave State Park to build Butterfly Garden
Clarksville, TN – If you have visited Dunbar Cave State Park lately, you will have noticed that the back plaza area has been dug up and is mainly a pile of dirt. This area is being prepared for a Butterfly Garden.
When Dunbar Cave was bought in 1973 and turned into a state park, the area in front of the bath house of the visitor center was a swimming pool. However, the pool was in such disarray that is was not economical to fix it. So the state decided to fill it in with dirt.
APSU ROTC Cadet Cynthia Stinnett takes Army Physical Fitness Test Honors
Joint Base Lewis McChord, WA – Reserve Officers’ Training Corps Cadets Cynthia Stinnett, Austin Peay State University, Clarksville, Tennessee resident and Even Poole, Norwich University, West Milford, New Jersey resident, took first place for the female and male categories respectively during the 8th Regiment Army physical fitness test, June 29th at Joint Base Lewis-McChord, WA.
Clarksville Area Job Fair to have over 40 Employers Participating
Nashville, TN – Tennessee State Representative Curtis Johnson (R–Clarksville) announced he has partnered with the Tennessee Department of Labor, and the City of Clarksville, to host a job fair for the people of Montgomery County and surrounding areas.
The fair, which will include over 40 employers looking to hire, is scheduled for July 9th at the Wilma Rudolph Event Center in Liberty Park from 10:00am until 2:00pm. [Read more]
