2015 Clarksville Downtown Market Vendor applications are now available
Clarksville, TN – Do you want to sell your homegrown or homemade items this summer? The Clarksville Parks and Recreation is now accepting applications for 2015 Downtown Market vendors!
Applications are available online at www.cityofclarksville.com/downtownmarket and must be submitted no later than April 3rd. Potential vendors may complete the form online or download a printable version to be submitted to 102 Public Square.
Acuff Circle of Excellence to honor Joe W. Giles with Ovation Award
Clarksville, TN – Joe W. Giles, an Austin Peay State University alumnus and founder of the Tennessee Arts Academy, the nation’s flagship professional development program for teachers of the arts, will be honored March 1st with the George Mabry Ovation Award.
The award is one of eight to be given by the Acuff Circle of Excellence in recognition of outstanding contributions in the arts to the Clarksville-Montgomery County community. The annual ceremony will be Sunday, March 1st, from 2:00pm-3:30pm at the Customs House Museum and Cultural Center. The public is invited to attend the ceremony and a reception that follows. Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office hold Community Meeting at Olivet Free Will Baptist Church
Montgomery County, TN – Montgomery County Sheriff John Fuson and several of his staff came together Thursday night to inform citizens gathered at Olivet Free Will Baptist Church. Reverend Chris Camp began the meeting by thanking the Sheriff and the MCSO for all they do.
“Anytime I go to something (the Sheriff) is always there,” Camp said, adding that he and his staff go “above and beyond” for the community.
Austin Peay State University professor to speak on how to write book proposals that sell
Clarksville, TN – Dr. Gregg Steinberg is offering a seminar titled, “Writing a Book Proposal That Sells.” The seminar will be held from 3:00pm-4:00pm Thursday, February 26th in the Morgan University Center, room 303, on the campus of Austin Peay State University. The seminar is free and open to the public.
Steinberg will show participants how to devise a proposal for an agent or publisher and cover the key components of a book proposal. [Read more]
Clarksville Parks and Recreation to host community clean-up at the Clarksville Greenway
Clarksville, TN – Come on out and help the Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department maintain one of Clarksville’s treasures! A community clean-up at the Clarksville Greenway, located at 1101 Pollard Road, will take place Saturday, March 21st from 8:00am until 10:00am.
Anyone interested in participating in the Greenway clean-up should contact Melissa Adkins at the Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department, or meet at the Clarksville Greenway at 8:00am on March 21st.
Clarksville Parks and Recreation to participate in 50k Tree Day
Clarksville, TN – Clarksville Parks and Recreation invites the public to join us and statewide groups including Tennessee Stormwater Association and the Tennessee Environmental Council for 50K Tree Day on February 21st, 2015 from 10:00am to 11:00am at Billy Dunlop Park and Valley Brook Park.
Clarksville Parks and Recreation’s Fly Fishing program for youth and teens is back
Clarksville, TN – Do you like fishing? Are you interested in aquatic environments? Clarksville Parks and Recreation has once again teamed up with the National Fishing in Schools Program to offer a class in basic fly fishing!
Class will be held at the Crow Community Center on Thursdays from 4:00pm to 5:00pm, March 5th through March 26th, and is open to grades 6-12.
Austin Peay State University graduate communication program named one of the nation’s best
Clarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University’s graduate degree in communication arts is one of the top online programs in the nation, according to a recent survey by Affordable Colleges Online (ACO).
The national online resource released its Top Online Programs for 2015 rankings earlier this week, and the APSU master’s degree program, with concentrations in general communication and corporate communication, was ranked #30 in the country.

Hope Pregnancy Center announces 11th annual Father Daughter Purity Ball
Clarksville, TN – The administrative staff at Hope Pregnancy Center is busy preparing for the eleventh annual Father Daughter Purity Ball, to be held the last two weekends in February.
This popular event is open to fathers, grandfathers, uncles or any adult male role model, and young ladies in grades K through 12, as well as college age. Guests will enjoy dancing, dessert, and a brief encouraging message focused on the event theme, “One in a Million”. [Read more]
