Gateway Chamber Orchestra to perform “Historic Seconds” concert at APSU on March 30th
Clarksville, TN – In the summer of 1802, Ludwig van Beethoven felt depressed. The famed German composer was going deaf, and, overcome by this reality, he isolated himself in the spa town of Heiligenstadt. He tried to distract himself by working on a new symphony, but by October, he still felt miserable.
“Little more and I would have put an end to my life – only art it was that withheld me,” he wrote in a gloomy letter to his brothers. “It seemed impossible to leave the world until I had produced all that I felt called upon me to produce, and so I endured this wretched existence.”

Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office employees visit Tennessee State Capitol
Montgomery County, TN – Montgomery County Sheriff John Fuson and employees of the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO), as well as volunteers with the The Silent Witness Project were on hand at the Tennessee State Capitol today to show passers-by silhouette plaques memorializing fallen victims of domestic violence.
Family members of victims, as well as organizers of the project, were recognized by Representative John Tidwell during the Civil Justice Committee meeting.

APSU’s Darren V. Michael presents Original Short Plays in “Brief Encounters” at Clarksville’s Roxy Regional Theatre, March 19th-21st
Clarksville, TN – A jaded Hank Williams Jr. fan, a man basking in the glow of the morning after, a Middle Eastern immigrant seeking a room to rent, a middle-aged man with a fear of spiders and dentists — these are just a handful of the various characters who will take the stage of the Roxy Regional Theatre’s theotherspace this month.
For three nights only, beginning March 19th, four original one-acts by area playwright Darren V. Michael will be treated to a readers theatre production in “Brief Encounters: A Night of Short Plays”.

Booker Prize-winning novelist Margaret Atwood to read at APSU on April 11th

Clarksville Parks and Recreation’s new Fly Fishing program for youth and teens has a few spots left
