Clarksville’s Movies in the Park kicks off Saturday
Clarksville, TN – Movies in the Park, the City’s free, outdoor movie series, will kick off its ninth season, Saturday, May 10th, at Heritage Park, 1241 Peachers Mill Road, Clarksville. ‘Pretty in Pink,’ rated PG-13 will be shown at approximately 8:00pm (dependent on sunset).
Dress in your best 80s gear and arrive early to participate in 80s Zumba with the Clarksville Area YMCA, and the giant Polaroid photo booth with Clarksville Parks and Recreation.

Clarksville’s Tilted Kilt Pub & Eatery to host 2nd Saturday Cruise Ins
Clarksville, TN – Tilted Kilt Pub & Eatery in Clarksville will host a cruise-in every 2nd Saturday, rain or shine, beginning in May. All makes, models and car clubs are welcome.
The cruise-ins will be from 3:00pm-7:00pm during the pub’s popular “Hoppy Hour” so cruise-in participants may take advantage of the accompanying specials. In addition, there will be special reserved parking and cornhole for those attending.

Fort Defiance Interpretive Center adds second session to its popular Civil War Summer Camp
Clarksville, TN – The Fort Defiance Interpretive Center, located at 120 Duncan Street, is proud to host the City’s Civil War Summer Camp for youth in the 5th and 6th grades. The Camp was so popular in its first year that a second one-week session has been added to allow for more kids to participate!

Customs House Museum Presents the Collage Work of Anne Bagby
Clarksville, TN – This month the Orgain Gallery of the Customs House Museum features the collage art of award-winning artist Anne Bagby in the exhibit Layered Expressions.
Combining layers of glaze over layers of patterns and images, Anne creates quilt-like visions, stitching together patterns of bold colors that often feature the human face and words. There is a nostalgic feel to the modern pieces of art. The end result is a lyrical piece of textures that leaves the viewer with a sense of familiarity.

Improvements made to Clarksville’s Wilma Rudolph Event Center
Clarksville, TN – The Wilma Rudolph Event Center (WREC), located at Liberty Park, recently received a facelift or, more appropriately, a glass lift. Contractors were on site April 21st-24th, 2014 applying over 6,000 square feet of window film to the event center’s glass interior.

Window film has been installed at the Wilma Rudolph Event Center to reduce sunlight coming into the facility.

Fort Defiance Interpretive Center to host Civil War Medical Display
Clarksville, TN – The Fort Defiance Interpretive Center, located at 120 Duncan Street, will host a medical display Saturday, May 24th from 10:00am to 5:00pm.
The exhibit will feature presentations by Mark Britton and include a collection of medical items used during the 19th century to include necessary tools for blood-letting, various surgical procedures and preparation of period medicinal products.

New Smart Parking Meters to be installed in Downtown Clarksville starting May 6th
Clarksville, TN – Beginning next Tuesday, May 6th, 2014, the Clarksville Parking Authority will begin installation of new parking meters which will result in several new parking options for downtown visitors.
Each parking stall will be outfitted with a sensor that automatically resets when a car is parked in that space. The meters are set to offer the first hour of parking at no cost. The maximum time allowed in any parking stall will be three hours. «Read the rest of this article»
Premier Medical Welcomes Dr. Patricia Keefe to their Group Practice
Clarksville, TN – Premier Medical Group is pleased to announce the addition of Dr. Patricia Keefe to their general surgery department.
Dr. Keefe studied at Worcester Polytechnic Institute and earned her medical degree from the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences. She completed her general surgery residency at Tripler Army Medical Center in Honolulu, Hawaii.

20th annual APSU Governors Bass Tournament to be held Saturday, May 10th

Clarksville, TN – The 20th annual Austin Peay State University Governors Bass Tournament is just a week away.
This year’s edition, which will be held Saturday, May 10th, at Kentucky Lake, with registration and boat launching from Paris Landing, Tennessee, State Park, promises to be more accessible for entrants and families alike.
Last May entrants were forced to use the back entrance because of flooding. Despite that obstacle, the tourney drew 282 boats — 14 more than in 2012.
