APSU’s KA Order receives NIC Chapter Award of Distinction
Clarksville, TN – In March 2015, the North-American Interfraternity Conference (NIC) announced that 10 fraternity chapters from across North America will be recognized on April 19th, 2015, at the Gold Medal Banquet during the NIC Annual Meeting in Kansas City, Missouri.

Clarksville Parks and Recreation’s Liberty Live Concert Series begins May 1st
Clarksville, TN – The Liberty Live summer concert series returns for its second season at Liberty Park on Friday, May 1st! This first concert in the series will feature Americana artist, The Mike + Ruthy Band. Admission is free but concessions will be available for purchase.
The show is set to begin at 6:30pm and conclude at 9:30pm.

Rivers and Spires continues tonight in Downtown Clarksville
Clarksville, TN – Clarksville’s Rivers and Spires Festival begins tonight, Friday, April 17th at 5:00pm. Come out and music, artistic exhibits, thrilling competitions, and vendor booths.
The Northeast High School Exit One and JV Show Choirs will start things off on the Courthouse Stage at 5:00pm. Also at 5:00pm, Khamsin will be on the Strawberry Alley Stage, Few Miles On will play on the Public Square Stage and The Art of Hula will be on the Main and Third Stage.

Rivers and Spires’ Quilts of the Cumberland Exhibit ready for opening night
Does Your Quilt Have a Sleeve?
Clarksville, TN – The hanging of the quilts for the Quilts of the Cumberland Quilt Show was held on Wednesday night April 15th at the Madison Street United Methodist Church in preparation for this year’s Rivers and Spires Festival.
There are a lot of terms used by quilters that you may be strange to you, but if you are attending the quilt show, you will probably hear many of them used in reference to the quilts you will view.

The All State, APSU’s student newspaper, takes home state, AP awards
Clarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University’s student newspaper, The All State, was recently honored for its excellence on both the regional and state levels.
The All State earned a No. 4 in the South ranking on February 27th at the annual Southeast Journalism Conference (SEJC), held February 27th-28th at Georgia State University in Atlanta.

Rivers and Spires Festival begins tonight with KISS tribute band Mr. Speed
Clarksville, TN – Clarksville’s Rivers and Spires Festival begins tonight, April 16th with musical entertainment for everyone. The free festival will have musicians of all genres. Tonight’s hours are from 5:00pm-10:00pm.
Driven, a local pop group, will kick things off at 5:00pm on the Strawberry Alley Stage. Driven boasts smooth harmony with high energy show.

Early Bird Discount Registration deadline approaches for the 37th Annual Queen City Road Race
Clarksville, TN – The 37th Annual Queen City Road Race scheduled for Saturday, May 2nd, have you reserved your spot at the finish line? If not, you’d better act quickly to be eligible for the discounted rate of $20.00 for the 5K and 7K races.
The Early Bird discounted registration deadline is April 17th. Registration will be available through race day, however prices increase to $25.00 for the 5K and 7K races. The non-competitive One Mile Movement will remain at a $5.00 registration fee now through race day.
Registration for the Queen City Road Race is simple and may be completed online or in person. Online registration can be completed by visiting www.cityofclarksville.com/qcrr and is available onsite at 102 Public Square.

Gamers Get Their Own Area At Rivers and Spires’ Gig City Gaming Area
Clarksville, TN – Video game aficionados have a place to unite, unwind and show their gaming skills at this year’s Rivers and Spires Festival.
For the second year, the Festival will be bringing a free, fully interactive gaming area to the underground parking garage located on Franklin Street. Gig City Gaming, presented by CDE Lightband, will feature over 50 titles and will cater to over 30,000 gamers. Tons of gaming will be available for everyone to enjoy on systems including the Xbox 360, Xbox One, Play Station 3 and Play Station 4.

Bass Pro Shop’s Big Cat Quest Tournament to be held in Clarksville Rescheduled
Clarksville, TN – The Bass Pro Shop’s Big Cat Quest Tournament originally scheduled for April 18th in Clarksville, Tennessee has been postponed until further notice.
Tournament officials made the call early Wednesday to hold off on the fishing tournament until a future date, which will be announced soon.

City of Clarksville Supports Our Troops with free Concert during Warrior Week
