    TWRA’s Youth Fishing Rodeo a great time for kids and adults alike

    Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency - TWRAClarksville, TN – On Saturday, June 6th the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency (TWRA) along with the Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department held the annual Youth Fishing Rodeo at Liberty Park. The event gives the youth of Clarksville an opportunity to enjoy a day of free fishing. This is the 14th year for the event.

    “Saturday is free fishing day in the State of Tennessee. Here in Clarksville we team up with Clarksville Parks and Recreation to host a free fishing day event for youth 16 years of age and younger,” stated TWRA officer Jereme Odom.

    Friends of Rotary Park to hold 1st Annual Camp-Out Experience June 27th and 28th

    Friends of Rotary ParkClarksville, TN – Friends of Rotary Park (FORP) is hosting their first annual camping experience at Rotary Park. The camp-out will be from June 27th 10:00am to June 28th check out time 10:00am.

    There will be a grilled hot dog dinner, along with a bonfire and several families games such as: Racket Ball, Volleyball, Jenga, and Connect Four. We are also having a family fun tug-a-war contest.

    This is a fundraiser for FORP Friends of Rotary Park and the deadline to sign your family up is June 12th.

    Governors Square MallClarksville, TN – Are you ready for your close up? Governor’s Square Mall will be hosting a casual, free model search for The Back to School Fashion Show, and Bridal Show on Friday, June 12th from 2:00pm-4:00pm.

    The event takes place in Center Court near Victoria’s Secret. The Back to School Fashion Show is open to girls and boys between the ages of 5 and 18. The Bridal Show is open to men and women 16 or older.

    An award-winning Southern Author, she celebrates the richness and variety of Appalachian culture through her books, many of which have appeared on the New York Time Best-Sellers List.

    Of her numerous works, the best known make up the Ballad series. In these stories she weaves together past and present while seeking to change the popular perception of Appalachia.

Gregory informed colleagues and friends of his retirement plans Thursday morning.

    “Austin Peay is a special place due to the great people on campus and the outstanding alumni, supporters and friends throughout the nation,” he said. “My years at APSU have been special for me and my family. I am retiring at a time when the future is indeed bright”

    Clarksville’s Summer Night Lights program begins with free 5-on-5 basketball tournaments

    Clarksville Parks and Recreation DepartmentClarksville, TN – It is almost time to kick off this summer’s edition of the Mayor’s Summer Night Lights program and this year we are starting off with free 5-on-5 basketball tournaments for ages 14 and older!

    APSU students volunteer in Guatemala during summer break

    Austin Peay State University - APSUClarksville, TN – Last month, nine Austin Peay State University students spent a week volunteering in Antigua, Guatemala, collectively completing 200 hours of community service.

    On May 16th, the students traveled to the Central American country as part of the first international alternative break trip through APSU’s new Center for Service-Learning and Community Engagement. With the help of several grants, the Center was able to provide the international service opportunity for students at an affordable price.
