Deadline to register for the Riverfest Regatta is September 4th
Clarksville, TN – The registration deadline for the Ninth Annual Riverfest Regatta is right around the corner! Participants can enter as an individual or as a team for a chance to win awards!
This boat race is not like any ordinary boat race. Participants will compete in their boats made of cardboard, plastic bottles, or a few other approved materials. There will be several divisions all racing down the 100-yard long course on the Cumberland River.

Heroes, Hometowns and Legends Series Brings Big Names in Comedy, Music to Clarksville

Montgomery County Government needs mentors for Tennessee Promise Program
Montgomery County, TN – Montgomery County Government is seeking community volunteers to mentor students taking part in the Tennessee Promise program. Tennessee Promise allows any Tennessee high school graduate the opportunity to attend a community college, Tennessee College of Applied Technology or to get an applicable associate’s degree from a four-year institution, tuition free.
Mentors are assigned to students within their county and help students eliminate the barriers of accessing post-secondary education.

Austin Peay Inaugural Governors Games crowns winners, celebrates area veterans, military families
Clarksville, TN – The sounds of iron being lifted, feet pounding the track and athletes pushing themselves past their limit filled the air on August 1st, as nearly two-dozen teams converged on the campus of Austin Peay State University for the inaugural Governors Games Powered by CrossFit Clarksville.
While teams of four competed for top honors, the real goal was to honor APSU and the Clarksville community’s military alumni, soldiers and families from Fort Campbell.

New session of Archery to be offered at the Kleeman Center this September
Clarksville, TN – Already learned the fundamentals of archery and looking to build on those newfound skills? Look no further than the Kleeman Community Center’s 8-week, Olympic Archery program beginning September 9th.

Clarksville, TN – On Sunday, August 16th Beachaven Winery concert series ‘Jazz on the Lawn’ featured music by the Back Road Brigade sponsored by the Joe Padula Show on 1400 WJZM to benefit the LEAP Organization.
”I was impressed with the attendance for our first event of this magnitude. Everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves and it provided an opportunity for board members to interact with staff and volunteers” commented County Commissioner Jason Hodges who serves on the LEAP Board and spearheaded the event.

SPAY-ghetti Dinner fundraiser benefiting the Humane Society of Clarksville-Montgomery County this Friday
Clarksville, TN – The First Presbyterian Church in downtown Clarksville will be hosting a SPAY-ghetti dinner on Friday, August 21st benefiting the Humane Society of Clarksville-Montgomery County.
Dinner will start being served at 5:00pm, and will continue to accept guests until 7:00pm. The meal includes spaghetti, salad, bread, drink and dessert provided by George the Cake Guy!

More than 800 freshmen to arrive at APSU on today, August 20th
Clarksville, TN – On Thursday, August 20th, about 840 young men and women will arrive at Austin Peay State University to begin the next phase of their lives as freshmen living on a college campus.
During the busy morning and early afternoon, parking lots around the University’s residence halls will be full of families unloading heavy suitcases and bundles of clothing from their vehicles.

Friends of Rotary Park to hold 5k/1 Mile Run and Walk fundraiser September 19th
Clarksville, TN – On Saturday, September 19th, 2015, the Friends of Rotary Park (FORP) will hold their first annual 5k/1 Mile Run and Walk fundraiser.
All runners to be creative in wearing your 80’s attire. FORP is a 501c3 non-profit organization.
FORP is asking for a $20.00 donation for adults(18 and over). For youth(17 and under) a $12.00 donation. While, 5 and under is free.
