Spread the Word: ‘V’ MONOLOGUES Return to the Roxy for Fourteenth Year, January 15th – January 30th
Clarksville, TN – Funny, outrageous, emotionally affecting and occasionally angry … Eve Ensler’s wildly popular series of monologues about women and performed by women is back for the fourteenth year with the Roxy Regional Theatre’s presentation of “The Vagina Monologues”, January 15th – January 30th.
Returning favorites Emily Rourke (whom audiences will remember as Ivy in Leonard Bernstein’s On the Town) and Jackie Ostick (who was most recently seen as Widow Corney in the Roxy’s 33rd season opener, Lionel Bart’s Oliver!) will take the stage of the Roxy’s theotherspace alongside newcomer Mariah Sade Ralph (straight off a stint in Busch Gardens holiday production, Christmas Town) in readings of these monologues based on interviews Eve Ensler conducted with 200 women about their views on sex, relationships, and violence against women.

Southeast Tourism Society Selects the Rivers and Spires Festival as a ‘Top 20 Event’
Travel industry organization has saluted region’s best events since 1985
Clarksville, TN – The Southeast Tourism Society has named Clarksville’s Rivers & Spires Festival one of the STS Top 20 Event in the Southeast for April 2016.
This year’s Rivers and Spires Festival is scheduled for April 14th-16th, 2016. The STS Top 20 Festival and Event Awards have highlighted programs around the Southeast since 1985.

Clarksville’s Roxy Regional Theatre “A Christmas Carol” final two shows, December 18th and 19th
Clarksville, TN – Tonight, Friday, December 18th at 8:00pm and Saturday afternoon, December 19th at 2:00pm are the final two shows for the Roxy Regional Theatre’s performance of “A Christmas Carol”. This is your last chance to see what has become a Christmas tradition in Clarksville.
All good things must come to an end, and signature performances are no exception. After nine years of delivering countless “Bah Humbugs” upon the Roxy Regional Theatre stage, John McDonald will hang up his hat as the miserly businessman Ebenezer Scrooge with this year’s production of Charles Dickens’ “A Christmas Carol”.

APSU appoints Dr. Raj Dakshinamurthy as new associate provost for research, dean of graduate studies
Clarksville, TN – Dr. Raj Dakshinamurthy has been appointed as an associate provost for research and dean of graduate studies at Austin Peay State University. In these dual roles, he will be responsible for promoting and expanding research and scholarship throughout the University, as well as providing strong direction and leadership in the College of Graduate Studies.

101st Airborne Division Band to perform Holiday Concert at Clarksville-Montgomery County Public Library
Clarksville, TN – On Thursday, December 17th, the 101st Airborne Division Band from Fort Campbell, KY will be performing in the atrium of the Clarksville-Montgomery County Public Library at 6:00pm.
The show will feature several different types of musical groupings a brass quintet and a jazz combo for an hour-long concert.

Grant to help APSU continue “Green Zone” program for veteran students
Clarksville, TN – The Aurora Foundation, a national non-profit that helps veterans earn a college education, recently awarded Austin Peay State University with a $5,000 grant to continue its Green Zone Program.
The University’s Military Student Center began the Green Zone initiative in July to train APSU faculty and staff on the issues facing veteran and military-affiliated students.

Altra Federal Credit Union hosts Financial Aid Night on January 26th, 2016
Clarksville, TN – Altra Federal Credit Union will host a free Financial Aid Night for High School Juniors, Seniors and parents on Tuesday, January 26th at 6:00pm at the Clarksville-Montgomery County Public Library located at 350 Pageant Lane.
“Our Financial Aid seminars are offered to families to learn the basics of the FAFSA application, discuss possible grants and scholarships, and help answer questions that students or parents may have about the Financial Aid process,” says Danielle Anderson, Youth Coordinator for Altra Federal Credit Union.

Browders endow scholarship at APSU to promote European studies
Clarksville, TN – Dr. Dewey Browder, retired chair of the Austin Peay State University Department of History and Philosophy, is interested in all things European. He is particularly fond of German foods, and among the delicacies he favors are Schnecken, which are more commonly known here by the French name “escargots.”
In his living room, which is crowded with books on European history, dozens of German nutcrackers stand on the mantle to commemorate the holiday season.
