Clarksville Parks and Recreation announces large outdoor fitness center now open at McGregor Park

Clarksville, TN – Clarksville Parks and Recreation announces that the McGregor Park North Extension Trailhead is now home to the largest outdoor fitness center in Clarksville, thanks to a group of Clarksville Academy students and a grant from the Clarksville-Montgomery County Community Health Foundation.
Students in Clarksville Academy’s Challenge Based Learning program wrote the fitness center grant request, which was approved by the Clarksville-Montgomery County Community Health Foundation.

Clarksville, TN – The Austin Peay State University (APSU) professor’s story starts simply enough, with a world record assembly of double reeds in Granada, Spain. About 550 oboists and bassoonists climbed the bleachers around 11:00pm August 31st at the International Double Reed Society’s annual conference.
Dr. Amy Gillick, assistant music professor at Austin Peay State University (APSU), earned a faculty research grant to translate the essays of Brazilian composer Francisco Mignone.

Clarksville, TN – Smartphone photos are fine for most tourists, but when Austin Peay State University (APSU) student Amir Elraheb first experienced the splendor of Madrid, Spain, he pulled out his watercolors to truly capture the city.
“It’s sort of like a photograph, but when you are painting you have to pay attention to the details of whatever you’re looking at so much harder, so scenes are engrained in my head,” Elraheb, an Austin Peay State University foreign language major, said.

This night-time, lighted Christmas parade is scheduled for 5:00pm Saturday, December 1st, 2018 in downtown Clarksville.
Three time cancer survivor Kristie Mixon will be this year’s grand marshal. Join Clarksville Mayor McMillan for the official tree lighting ceremony on Public Square immediately after the parade.
Deadline to register for 59th annual Christmas Parade is Wednesday, November 28th.

Austin Peay, CMCSS form stronger partnership for preparing local teachers

Clarksville, TN – For the last several years, Austin Peay State University (APSU) and the Clarksville-Montgomery County School System (CMCSS) have worked together almost on autopilot.
The University’s Eriksson College of Education sent juniors and seniors to practice teaching at local schools, and the district looked for classrooms to place these would-be teachers.
