Clarksville’s Garrett Allen raises money for JDRF to help find a Cure for Type 1 Diabetes

Clarksville, TN – This summer, Garrett Allen’s All- Star baseball team won the 8 year old TN Little League state tournament.

It was a lot of fun and all the boys were very excited to get their championship medals. Garrett wore his every day for about two weeks. Nothing slows this kid down. Not even Type 1 Diabetes!

He practiced in the 90 degree heat, dust, rain, and mud.

Managing his Type 1 during activities like baseball is an ever changing process.

His diabetes pump has made life a lot easier and helped lower his A1C, yet physical activities can affect the delivery of insulin so we always have to be prepared.

The research and development funded by JDRF has dramatically changed how people living with this disease have managed it over the last few decades. The insulin pump is a great example of JDRF led advancements and the equipment being tested now is amazing.

Eventually I am confident they will find a cure, but until then, I am grateful for the advancements they have made in managing life with Type 1 Diabetes. None of this would be possible without the support of people like you.
