Clarksville Parks and Recreation and the Clarksville area YMCA have partnered once again to host Sunrise Yoga every Wednesday and Friday morning at Liberty Park.
Austin Peay State University sociology department sending students to top graduate programs
Clarksville, TN – In August, Sarah Huff, a former high school dropout, will board a plane for the United Kingdom to begin graduate school at The London School of Economics and Political Science—a university recently labeled “the world’s leading dedicated social science institution.”
“I’ll admit I was a bit hesitant to apply because I don’t have a lot of the background that people have when they go to these bigger schools,” Huff said recently.

Clarksville, TN – The Roxy Regional Theatre is turning up the volume this Friday, April 29th at 8:00pm when CDE Lightband presents Green Day’s “American Idiot!”. Clarksville, TN – The Indoor Aquatic Center, located at 166 Cunningham Lane, invites children and adults with mental or physical disabilities to Adaptive Swim Day on Friday, May 6th from 10:00am to 12:00pm.

YMCA Race Series kicks off 2016 season With The Gauntlet presented by CDE Lightband
Clarksville, TN – Get on your mark, Middle Tennessee: the YMCA Race Series kicks off its 2016 season with the 3rd Annual Gauntlet presented this year by CDE Lightband on Saturday, May 21st.
For its second year, the race is again set to take teams of two on three miles of trails through Rotary Park, with 11 fun and challenging partner obstacles in your route.
Sleep Under the Stars at Clarksville Parks and Recreation’s Spring Family Campout
Clarksville, TN – Clarksville Parks and Recreation invites you to sleep under the stars at Billy Dunlop Park, located at 1930 East Boy Scout Road.
Registration is underway for the spring Family Campout beginning at 4:00pm Saturday, May 14th, until 9:00am Sunday, May 15th.
The Family Campout is $10.00 per person or $40.00 per family (up to 6 members) and will include an afternoon and evening of games and fun as well as a hot dog dinner Saturday night and breakfast Sunday morning.
Families will need to provide their own tent and sleeping materials. Children must be accompanied by an adult at all times. Pre-registration is required and is available at Clarksville Parks and Recreation, located at 102 Public Square or online at www.cityofclarksville.com/parksrec

Clarksville Association of Realtors to hold F.U.E.L. Block Party and Fundraiser, May 7th
Clarksville, TN – The Clarksville Association of Realtors (CAR) will be hosting the 9th Annual F.U.E.L. Fundraiser Block Party on May 7th. This community event is coordinated each year by the Clarksville Association of Realtors Charity Relations.
100% of the proceeds from this event will benefit F.U.E.L., which helps to provide food for local hungry school children.
Austin Peay State University hosting CSM Darol Walker Award Ceremony on April 28th
Clarksville, TN – Colonel Rob Salome, garrison commander at Fort Campbell, will visit Austin Peay State University at 8:00am on April 28th to help recognize an outstanding APSU ROTC cadet during the annual CSM Darol Walker Award Ceremony and Breakfast.
Jack B. Turner established the award several years ago in honor of Darol Walker, retired vice president of Jack B. Turner and Associates Inc. in Clarksville and retired command sergeant major in the U.S. Army.
Clarksville Parks and Recreation receives $7,580 grant for Sport Wheelchairs
Clarksville, TN – Clarksville Parks and Recreation is proud to announce that it has received a $7,580 Quality of Life grant from the Christopher & Dana Reeve Foundation.
The award was one of 107 grants totaling over $735,482 awarded by the Reeve Foundation to nonprofit organizations nationwide that provide more opportunities, access, and daily quality of life for individuals living with paralysis, their families, and caregivers. Conceived by the late Dana Reeve, the program has awarded over 2,600 grants totaling over $19 million since 1999.
Philanthropist Ayers to speak at Austin Peay State University commencement on May 6th
Clarksville, TN – Janet Ayers, a nationally recognized business leader and president of the philanthropic Ayers Foundation, will deliver the keynote address at Austin Peay State University’s 87th Spring Commencement on May 6th.
The Ayers Foundation was created in 1999 to sustain and/or significantly improve the quality of life in Tennessee. The organization accomplishes this mission through financial support for college scholarships, medical services for children, research into pre-cancer detection and diagnosis, continuing education for teachers, mental health research and other initiatives.
