First Advantage Bancorp releases 2014 Earnings statement
Clarksville, TN – First Advantage Bancorp (OTCQX: FABK), the holding company of First Advantage Bank, announced net income of $3.252 million for the year ended December 31st, 2014, up 6.0% from $3.068 million in 2013. Basic and diluted earnings per share were $0.86 and $0.80, respectively, compared to $0.78 and $0.73, respectively, in 2013.
Net income for the fourth quarter 2014 was approximately $1 million compared to $1.2 million for the fourth quarter of 2013. The decrease in net income was primarily attributed to lower mortgage-related fee income. [Read more]
Austin Peay State University professor to speak on how to write book proposals that sell
Clarksville, TN – Dr. Gregg Steinberg is offering a seminar titled, “Writing a Book Proposal That Sells.” The seminar will be held from 3:00pm-4:00pm Thursday, February 26th in the Morgan University Center, room 303, on the campus of Austin Peay State University. The seminar is free and open to the public.
Steinberg will show participants how to devise a proposal for an agent or publisher and cover the key components of a book proposal. [Read more]
Clarksville Singer Lydia Walker begins Kickstarter Campaign; Releases New Video
Clarksville TN – Local singer/songwriter Lydia Walker has become a household name in recent years. She has performed at numerous festivals, events, coffee shops, churches, and colleges in our region of Middle Tennessee and Southern KY.
Her music can be described as Contemporary Folk, accompanied by her acoustic guitar and occasionally a ukulele. She has taken the stage hundreds of times, sharing her songs with as many people as she can.
Clarksville Parks and Recreation to host community clean-up at the Clarksville Greenway
Clarksville, TN – Come on out and help the Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department maintain one of Clarksville’s treasures! A community clean-up at the Clarksville Greenway, located at 1101 Pollard Road, will take place Saturday, March 21st from 8:00am until 10:00am.
Anyone interested in participating in the Greenway clean-up should contact Melissa Adkins at the Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department, or meet at the Clarksville Greenway at 8:00am on March 21st.

Clarksville Parks and Recreation offers a Boating Safety Class
Clarksville, TN – Have you recently decided on purchasing a boat, or do you want to brush up on the safety precautions of boating? Come join Clarksville Parks and Recreation and the Coast Guard Auxiliary Unit in the new boating safety class.
This class is good for all types of boats, motorized and non-motorized, and open to ages 12 and up. This class will cover topics such as the importance of wearing life jackets, safe boating practices, the right boat for you, the correct use of a VHF Radio, lines and knots, weather, and more.

Clarksville’s Chocolate Affair a Sweet Indulgence
Clarksville, TN – On Saturday, February 7th, Clarksville Parks and Recreation along with Planters Bank held the 3rd annual Chocolate Affair at the Wilma Rudolph Event Center located at 1190 Cumberland Drive.
Those in attendance had the opportunity to sample products from local vendors, restaurants and groceries. It was a festive event with everyone all smiles as they indulged in chocolate delights.

Indoor Aquatic Center to host another Homeschool Swim Day
Clarksville, TN – The City of Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department is ready to welcome homeschooled children back for the next Homeschool Swim Day at the Indoor Aquatic Center, on Wednesday, February 11th!
Homeschool Swim Days are held from 10:00am to noon on the second Wednesday of each month.
Don’t miss Clarksville Parks and Recreation’s Spring Break Tumbling Camp
Clarksville, TN – Clarksville Parks and Recreation has once again teamed up with American Twisters Tumbling to bring a tumbling camp to the community during the Clarksville Montgomery County School System spring break!
Camp will be held March 9th-12th at 438 Kelly Lane, from 10:00am until 2:00pm, for ages 6-16.
Children’s Auditions for “Mary Poppins” at the Roxy Regional Theatre on Monday, February 23rd
Clarksville, TN – Local youth will have the opportunity to work alongside professional actors in “Mary Poppins” when the Roxy Regional Theatre holds auditions for the children’s roles of Jane and Michael on Monday, February 23rd, at 5:00pm.
The Roxy will be selecting multiple casts for this production, so children need not be able to participate in all performances, but they will need to miss some school in order to participate in weekday matinees for school groups. [Read more]
