Fort Defiance held annual Christmas in Occupied Clarksville celebration

Fort Defiance Interpretive CenterClarksville, TN – On December 15th, 2014 Fort Defiance Interpretive Center held their second annual Christmas in Occupied Clarksville. The allows visitors to the Civil War Fort to experience the holidays as soldiers and civilians would have during the 1860s.

“The public reception to Christmas in Occupied Clarksville as been absolutely overwhelming,” said William Parker, the Historical Interpreter at Fort Defiance. “We are very very very pleased at the turnout, we didn’t expect this many people but by golly we’re glad they came to celebrate the Christmas season with us here at the Fort Defiance Interpretive Center.”

Clarksville Academy Choir sings on the Montgomery County Court House steps

Christmas CarolersClarksville, TN – On Saturday, December 6th, 2014, Clarksville-Montgomery County held their annual Christmas Celebrations.

The festivities included the local school groups Christmas caroling on the court house steps, followed by the lighted Christmas Parade. After the Parade concluded Montgomery County held the official Lighting of the County Christmas Tree on the Courthouse law, and Santa visited with area children.

Clarksville Academy Choir sang before the start of the parade.

Big Brothers, Big Sisters of ClarksvilleClarksville, TN – Big Brothers, Big Sisters held their annual Christmas party for their Littles and Bigs at The Pinnacle Bowling Alley on Saturday December 6th.

When I arrived, Amy Carroll, the executive director of Big Brothers, Big Sisters was busy handing out shoes to the arriving bowlers. She spoke with my between helping the new arrivals, “It got a little hectic because everybody started showing up at the same time, so I just came back here behind the counter and started handing out shoes.” She quipped, “I’m no stranger to bowling alleys.”

Coldwell Banker Conroy, Marable & Holleman provided a wonderful Christmas to 15 needy families

Clarksville, TN – A few weeks before Christmas; on a cold December morning, a crowd gathered at the Coldwell Banker Conroy, Marable & Holleman office on Wilma Rudolph Boulevard. 15 Families had been selected to receive a wonderful Christmas gift. One child from each family would soon be boarding the Coldwell Banker Clarksville Olde Town Trolley to shop for Christmas presents for their families.

“It’s great,” said Mark Holleman. “I think it’s fantastic. And like I said I think the agents will receive as much out of taking these kids shopping, as the kids will get out of shopping for their families.” The realtors mission was to give back to the community by ensuring that these kids and their families had a wonderful Christmas.

Clarksville Transit to provide Free Rides on Christmas Eve

Clarksville Transit System - CTSClarksville, TN – The Clarksville Transit System will provide free transportation throughout the city on December 24th, 2013. This includes rides to the Annual Warm Souls Christmas event hosted by Radical Mission Compassionate Ministries.

“CTS is always looking for ways to make things a little easier for people in Clarksville. Offering free bus transportation on Christmas Eve is another way to do that and I appreciate their efforts as always,” said Clarksville Mayor Kim McMillan.

F&M Investment Services - Raymond James - Clarksville, TNClarksville, TN – The stock market’s anxieties about oil prices, the Fed, and the rest of the world gave way to a renewed sense of optimism (or at least less pessimism).

Heading into the Federal Open Market Committee meeting, the key question was whether it would abandon the “considerable time” phrase. The FOMC had it both ways, removing the phrase, saying instead that it could “be patient” in deciding when to begin normalizing policy, but quickly adding that the intent is exactly the same.
