Austin Peay State University’s Kristofer Ray named visiting scholar to University of Michigan’s Eisenberg Institute
Clarksville, TN – Dr. Kristofer Ray, Austin Peay State University associate professor of history, was recently named a visiting scholar to the University of Michigan’s Eisenberg Institute for Historical Studies.
He will spend the summer at the Institute, working on his next book, titled “Cherokees, Europeans and Empire in the Tennessee Corridor, 1670-1763.”

Nashville Predators Foundation awards funding to LEAP

Nashville, TN – On May 7th, 2014 the LEAP Organization was selected to receive a grant award from the Nashville Predators Foundation. This year marked the Predators biggest grant program in franchise history with over $410,000 in grants were awarded to Middle Tennessee non profit organizations at Bridgestone Arena.
“We are very appreciative of the Predators Foundation selecting us for funding to enhance our youth development program” commented board member Larson Gafney.

Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 396 holds annual Memorial Day Candle Light Vigil
Clarksville, TN – It is a solemn occasion when a nation gathers together to honor its soldiers, those who lived to come home, but even more importantly those who did not. The body of U.S. Army Staff Sergeant Lawrence Woods was buried in Arlington National Cemetery on March 21st of this year. There are 27 remaining missing POW/MIA’s from the State of Tennessee. Each one was honored in a ceremony held in front of the William O. Beach Civic Center at Veterans Plaza in Clarksville Tennessee on Sunday evening.
he Vietnam Veterans of America, Chapter 396 holds this Memorial Day Vigil each year to remember the men and women who were left behind in Vietnam when American forces left that country in 1975.
