Market Commentary by Scott J. Brown, Ph.D., Chief Economist
Federal Reserve officials were out in force trying to soothe market fears. A range of Fed comments had added to market uncertainty in previous weeks, but officials are now singing out of the same page of the hymnal. The message: there was no change in the Fed’s monetary policy intentions last week.
Bernanke was merely clarifying the Fed’s decision-making process. Future policy moves will remain data-dependent. If the economic data come in weaker than anticipated, any reduction in the pace of the Fed’s asset purchases would be pushed out. Tapering is not tightening.
As the Fed slows the rate of asset purchases, it would still be added accommodation. The Fed expects to hold these securities for a long time, maintaining policy accommodation. A rise in the federal funds rate target is still a long way off. Most Fed officials expect the first increase in 2015. Equities rose and bond yields declined. [Read more]

Dunbar Cave State Park Programs for July 1st through July 6th, 2013
Clarksville, TN – Dunbar Cave State Natural Area has been a State Park since 1973. The cave and its surrounding 110 acres have considerable scenic, natural and historical significance. The entrance offered shelter to prehistoric Native Americans as far back as 10,000 years.
Dunbar Cave State Natural Area will present many nature programs this summer. There are programs for children and adults.
Upcoming events include: Evening Nature Hike, Fish, Insects and Freshwater Mussels of the Red River, Lake Critters, Fishing Equipment and Techniques and so much more!

Clarksville, TN – Clarksville Parks and Recreation is excited to host the 6th Annual Doggie Palooza. This free event will take place Saturday, June 29th from 1:00pm to 4:00pm, at the Heritage Park Bark Park.
Beachaven Winery’s Jazz on the Lawn this Saturday with Jim Gibson
Clarksville, TN – Beachaven Winery will hold their next ‘Jazz on the Lawn’ concert with the Jim Gibson this Saturday, June 29th. The music starts at 6:30pm and goes until 9:30pm.
Because seating is “general admission,” it pays to get here around 5:00pm to get both a good parking spot and a good viewing spot on the lawn.
Clarksville Parks and Recreation’s Movies in the Park to show “Lincoln” at Liberty Park Saturday
Clarksville, TN – Join Clarksville Parks and Recreation this Saturday, June 29th, at Liberty Park for this week’s Movies in the Park event, featuring the recent blockbuster, “Lincoln,” which is rated PG-13.
The movie “Lincoln” is about the America’s president struggles with continuing the civil war and his battles with own cabinet.
Movie-goers can also enjoy a special appearance by Abraham Lincoln and his wife, Mary Todd Lincoln.
