APSU to break ground on August 17th on new Math and Computer Science Building
Clarksville, TN – Earlier this year, a narrow brick house off Ford Street, behind the Austin Peay State University Hemlock Semiconductor Building, was torn down. All that remains in its absence is a dirt lot, with a few patches of grass and gravel covering it.
At 10:00am on August 17th, shovels will plunge into that dry earth to mark the beginning of construction on APSU’s new $6.7 million mathematics and computer science building. The two-story classroom building, designed by Rufus Johnson Associates, is projected to open in the spring of 2014.

Clarksville, TN – The Fourth Annual Pass and Go event, a reward celebration for Clarksville-Montgomery County School System Advanced Placement students who score a 3, 4 or 5 on their exam, will be this Saturday at Wyatt Johnson, the event sponsor.
Katherine Johnson Cannata, Dealer Principal for Wyatt Johnson, is introducing a new dimension to the event. She is giving the overall winning student his or her choice of three cars: a Toyota Yaris, a Mazda 2 or a Hyundai Accent.

West Creek Middle School to hold Car Wash this Saturday
Clarksville, TN – On Saturday, July 28th, West Creek Middle School is having a car wash at the Middle School from 8:00am to 11:00am. They are collecting donations in the form of school supplies.
Anything from backpacks, composition notebooks, lined and graphing paper, pencils and pens, colored pencils, various colors of highlighters, sticky notes, index cards, glue sticks, and dry erase markers. A list of supplies can be found on the WCMS website.
All donations will be used to help students with financial needs throughout the year.
Fourth Annual “Dancing ’till Dawn” coming August 25th

APSU to present graduating military students, veterans with APSU Military coin on August 8th
Clarksville, TN – Active duty and military veteran students who will graduate from Austin Peay State University on August 10th will receive APSU’s military coin in a separate ceremony.
The military graduate recognition and coin presentation ceremony, with the theme “All Hail to Those Who Serve,” is scheduled for 5:00pm, Wednesday, August 8th in the Morgan University Center Ballroom. The event is open to the public.
APSU to hold Chick-fil-A Leadercast Conference
Clarksville, TN – The Austin Peay State University Center for Extended and Distant Education will hold a rebroadcast of the 12th annual Chick-fil-A Leadercast Conference from 8:00am–4:30pm, August 17th in the Morgan University Center.

4-H Fair to be held August 2nd-4th
Montgomery County, TN – The Montgomery County Agriculture Extension Service will host a 4-H Fair at the 4-H Arena on August 2nd-4th. Participants from the local 4-H chapter, as well as surrounding counties, will participate in the fair.

“One Drop at a Time” Benefit Concert at the Lighthouse Cafe’
Clarksville, TN – On Saturday, August 18th, 2012 there will be a benefit concert “One Drop at a Time” at the Lighthouse Cafe’ in Clarksville starting at 6:30pm. The concert will feature Jenny and Tyler with Lydia Walker.
The concert is free however, donations will be accepted to help raise money for Ryan and Jeri Lynn Owen to adopt two girls from the Democratic Republic of the Congo. [Read more]
“The Help” was shown at Movies in the Park Saturday night
Clarksville, TN – On Saturday, July 21st around 8:15pm, Clarksville Parks and Recreation held Movies in the Park at the Heritage Park Soccer Fields. The movie of the night was the people’s choice winner “The Help” starring Emma Stone, Viola Davis and Octavia Spencer.
Those that showed early could participate in “Move before the Movie” which featured a walk in the park and Tae Kwon Do.
