Aspire Clarksville Foundation Announces New Board of Directors
Clarksville, TN – The Aspire Clarksville Foundation is pleased to announce their Board of Directors for the 2012-2013 term.
At the July 26th meeting of the Aspire Steering Committee, it was voted and approved that Jack B. Turner and Lawson Mabry will serve alongside Chairperson Katherine Cannata, Immediate Past-Chair Terry Strange and Economic Development Council Chairman Steve Kemmer on the FY13 Aspire Board of Directors.

CMCSS Bus Routes now available Online
Montgomery County, TN – The Clarksville Montgomery County School System has made the Bus Routes available online as of Friday, July 27th.

Former Green Beret to read poetry at APSU on August 30th
Clarksville, TN – In 1993, a young Green Beret named Joe Shakeenab sought shelter from the hot sun in the African nation of Somalia. Sitting in his combat fatigues under the shade of a tent, he pulled out a notebook and a pencil and began scribbling a few lines of verse.
“When you’re gone on deployments, that’s the way you go on with yourself, just to maintain your own mind,” he said. “I wrote about what I’d seen and what I thought. I told the experiences through poetry.”
Dunbar Cave State Park’s “Cooling at the Cave” Saturday, July 28th
Clarksville, TN – Come out to Dunbar Cave State Park and join the park staff and the Friends of Dunbar Cave for their annual Cooling at the Cave and Anniversary Celebration with music, games and refreshments at the cool cave entrance.

Come out to the Lone Oak Picnic this Saturday for some good old Family Fun
Cunningham, TN – The 104th annual Lone Oak Picnic will be held Saturday, July 28th, 2012, from 9:00am to 3:00pm at the Central Civitan Building.
The Lone Oak Picnic features old time BBQ, political speeches, gospel and bluegrass music, inflatables, and a car show. This year there will be a raffle for a Gun Safe and 4 Guns.
The Lone Oak Picnic is a tradition dating back to 1908, and the Central Civitan Club is proud to host this wholesome, fun, community and family event. All are welcome.
Clarksville Montgomery County School System Teachers receive $20,000 Grant from Dow Corning Foundation
Clarksville, TN – The Dow Corning Foundation has approved a $20,000 grant to Clarksville-Montgomery County School System to fund the Teacher Extern Program, started this summer with 10 local industries, including Hemlock Semiconductor Group’s Clarksville site.
The program partners math and science teachers from CMCSS with engineers and industry professionals to better understand real life application of the subject they teach.
Clarksville National Little League Fall Sign Ups
Clarksville, TN – It’s almost time for Fall Ball! Clarksville National Little League fall sign ups will be August 9th from from 5:00pm until 8:00pm at Page’s Clarksville Sporting Goods on Riverside Drive.
Sign ups will also be held Saturday August 11th and Sunday August 12th at the Clarksville National Baseball field.
Clarksville National Little League fields are located at 408 Gaylewood Drive, Clarksville behind Barksdale Elementary School.

Clarksville-Montgomery County School System improves in all Areas according to latest TCAP
Montgomery County, TN – Clarksville-Montgomery County School System earned bragging rights as the Tennessee Department of Education announced student performance on the 2012 Tennessee Comprehensive Assessment Program.
CMCSS has improved in achievement proficiency in all subject areas and grades, with the exception of U.S. History, which remains at an exceptionally high 97 percent proficient. [Read more]
Clarksville-Montgomery County Convention and Visitors Bureau announces New Board Members
Clarksville, TN – The Clarksville-Montgomery County Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB) is pleased to announce The Honorable Geno Grubbs as the Chairman of the 2012-2013 Board of Directors.
At the July 25th CVB Board meeting, Carolyn Pierce was appointed as the Chair-Elect and will serve as the Chairperson for the 2013-2014 term.
