Clarksville, TN – The weekly Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department Recreation Report provides Clarksvillians with a glimpse at the activities and events that are available from the Parks and Recreation Department for them to enjoy together as a family.

Clarksville City Offices Closed Monday, May 28th, 2012
Clarksville, TN – Clarksville Mayor Kim McMillan is reminding everyone that the City of Clarksville offices will be closed on Monday, May 28th, 2012 in observance of Memorial Day.
“Our military family is a vital part of our community,” said Mayor McMillan, “and I cannot thank them enough for their service, dedication and courage. They make our nation safer and stronger and they make our community better. I am asking everyone in Clarksville to join me in remembering those brave men and women who gave their lives in service to us and in thanking those who are serving today.”
Clarksville City offices will re-open on Tuesday, May 29th, 2012 for regularly scheduled hours.
Clarksville’s Movies in the Park to have Free Screening of “Tangled”
Clarksville, TN – Join Clarksville Parks and Recreation Saturday, June 2nd, 2012 at Heritage Park Soccer fields for this month’s Movies in the Park event, featuring the computer animated musical fantasy- “Tangled”- rated PG.
Clarksville Parks and Recreation celebrates National Trails Day with Greenway clean-up
Clarksville, TN – Saturday, June 2nd is National Trails Day! The Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department and “Friends of the Clarksville Greenway” are celebrating with a clean-up from 8:00am to 10:00am at the Clarksville Greenway, located at 1101 Pollard Road.
National Trails Day, organized by the American Hiking Society, is celebrated across the country as a way to inspire the public to discover and learn about our nation’s trail system. Those interested in volunteering can contact Melissa Adkins at 931.645.7476

Austin Peay State University Public Relations wins 5 awards at 2012 TCPRA

Clarksville, TN – The Office of Public Relations and Marketing at Austin Peay State University won five awards during the Tennessee College Public Relations Association spring conference and awards contest held May 17th-18th at Middle Tennessee State University.
TCPRA – an alliance of communicators across the state representing public and private colleges and universities, technical schools, technology centers and community colleges – awarded gold, silver and bronze distinctions in various writing, design, publication and photography categories. More than 150 entries were received for the contest period between April 1st, 2011, and March 31st, 2012. [Read more]
Clarksville-Montgomery County Memorial Day Ceremony May 28th
Montgomery County, TN – The Montgomery County Veterans Service Organization is hosting its annual Memorial Day Ceremony at 10:00am, May 28th, at Veterans Memorial Park, Clarksville.

Clarksville Career Center to hold Young Adult Job Fair
Clarksville, TN – On Friday, June 1st 2012, the Clarksville Career Center- Resource Center will hold a Young Adult Job Fair for ages 16-21. The fair will start at 1:00pm and go until 4:00pm

Montgomery County Health Department gets New Director
Montgomery County, TN – The Montgomery County Mayor’s Office is pleased to announce that Joey Smith has been selected to lead the Montgomery County Health Department as the Public Health Director.
Smith will replace Andre Fresco who is moving out of state to pursue other opportunities.
Smith is an Austin Peay graduate with over 12 years experience with the Tennessee Department of Health. [Read more]

Clarksville, TN – The Tennessee Housing Development Agency (THDA) has recognized F&M Mortgage as one of its top five lenders statewide for the second year in a row. In addition, the USDA Rural Development has recognized the organization with its Premier Lender Award for outstanding loan production in rural Tennessee communities.
