Austin Peay State University Employees note their various accomplishments

Austin Peay State UniversityClarksville, TN – Several faculty and staff members at Austin Peay State University announce their recent professional and scholarly activities.

Dr. Najmul Abedin, professor in the public management and criminal justice department, had several articles published recently. These include “The Conceptual and Functional Diversity of the Ombudsman Institution: A Classification” published in Administration & Society; “The Ombudsman Institution and Democracy in the Bangladesh Context” in the book “Democracy in Bangladesh”; and “The Ombudsman Institution, Political Authority and Corruption” in the African Journal of Public Administration and Management.

Helen Eaves, accountant in Accounts Payable, is the winner of her ninth consecutive Financial Reporting Award of the Tennessee Small Business Development Center.

Dr. Samuel Jator, professor of mathematics, and former students Robert French and Scott Swindell have had their paper, “Trigonometrically fitted block Numerov type method for y”=f(x,y,y’),” accepted for publication in the journal Numerical Algorithms. In addition, students Liliana Alvarez, Anne French, Stephanie Jesse and Corey Medlin presented papers earlier this month at the Southeastern Section Meeting of the Mathematical Association of America at Clayton State University, Atlanta, GA. These students were mentored by faculty members Dr. Samuel Jator, Dr. Raman Sahi and Dr. Ben Ntatin. Faculty members Dr. Fola Agusto, Dr. Ben Ntatin and Dr. Raman Sahi also presented papers, and Sahi taught a mini-course on Introductory Knot Theory.

Beth Liggett, photographer in the APSU Public Relations and Marketing, won third place for her photo, “A New World,” in the University Photographers’ Association of America monthly photo contest. The photo competed in the campus environment category. In the photo, APSU’s front lawn becomes a planet in a stock recruitment piece made from a 360-degree panorama.
