Liberty Park Boat Ramp final preparations

Clarksville, TN – As opening day for the Liberty Park boat ramp and boat docks grows near, TMS Contracting employees and City employees were hard at work Thursday, May 26th with final preparations.

Around 1:00pm, TMS Contracting, launched a Crestliner pontoon boat on loan from Bill Roberts Thunder Road Marine (located at 1018 South Riverside Drive), to do some work on the Marina Basin. This makes the Crestliner the first boat launched from the Liberty Park boat ramp.

“Today we are moving the turbidity barrier and opening the Marina Basin to the Cumberland River.” stated Kyle Jones, Project Manager with TMS Contracting. “Later today, city employees will use this boat to put out a couple of buoys.” The turbidity barrier is used to prevent the migration of sediment from a work site like the Marina Basin, into a larger body of water such as the Cumberland River.

City employees were on site cleaning some areas and placing new road signs pointing the way to the boat ramps. Later in the day, around 4:00pm, the Crestliner was back in the water as Kyle Jones took a city employee around the Marina Basin to place two “Slow No Wake” bouys.

The Clarksville Parks & Recreation Department would like to remind patrons that the Marina Basin, located near the boat ramp and docks, is a strict “No Wake Zone,” and all boating regulations must be observed. The Liberty Park boat ramp and docks offically open Saturday, May 28th at 7:00am. Clarksville Police officers will be onsite to assist with traffic control and parking. They will have a patrol boat in the water in order to monitor boating safety. The boat ramps will be open 7:00am – 8:00pm through Monday, May 30th, Memorial day. The ramps will be open every Saturday and Sunday thereafter.

There are around 40 parking spots available for vehicles and boat trailers. Patrons will not be allowed to park on the surrounding grass areas.

Please keep in mind that the boat ramp and boat docks are the only portion of Liberty Park that will be open to the public at this time. Citizens are asked to not enter the park except to use the boat ramp.
