Montgomery County announces Adult and Youth Governor’s Volunteer Stars Award Recipients

Montgomery County, TN – Two Montgomery County residents were recognized in Franklin, Tennessee in February and again at the formal March County Commission meeting, because they were selected as the Montgomery County recipients of at the Governor’s Volunteer Stars Awards (GVSA).
The Governor’s Volunteer Stars Award is a statewide recognition program that was instituted by former Governor Phil Bredesen to honor and publicly recognize citizens in the adult and youth category from each county for their exemplary volunteer service to their community.

Montgomery County, TN – Congratulations go to Alexis Mihalinec and Susan and Bobby Powers for being selected the Montgomery County recipients for the 2012 Governor’s Volunteer Stars Awards.
Mihalinec, the Montgomery County Youth winner, is a 14 year old with a very giving heart. She dedicates her time to help low income families of Montgomery County that need a hand up with school supplies to help start the school year off right!
Volunteer Stars Nominations Needed

Montgomery County, TN – Nominations for the Fourth Annual Governor’s Volunteer Stars Awards are now being accepted within Montgomery County. The awards will celebrate the efforts of volunteers who strive to improve their communities through service.
One youth and one adult will be selected in Montgomery County to receive this prestigious award. Nominees will be judged based on the community’s needs of the volunteer service performed, initiative taken to perform the service, creativity used to solve a community problem and impact of the volunteer service on the community.
