Indoor Aquatic Center to host “Wettest Egg Hunts”

Indoor Aquatic Center - New ProvidenceClarksville, TN – New this year, the Indoor Aquatic Center, located at 166 Cunningham Lane, has partnered with Sango Pool & Spa and the YMCA to host two not-so-typical egg hunts.

On Saturday, March 31st, thousands of colored eggs will be floating or sunk in the center’s pools, each good for candy and prizes. A hunt will be offered for children ages 1 to 12 from 2:00pm to 4:00pm. An adaptive egg hunt will follow, from 6:00pm to 8:00pm, for individuals ages 1 to 18 who have a disability. [Read more]

New Reagan Giving Circle at Austin Peay State University receives $10,000 boost in honor of Marketing Professor

Austin Peay State UniversityClarksville, TN – For more than a decade, Dr. Carmen Reagan has served on the Delta Dental of Tennessee board of directors, helping the organization to expand across Tennessee.

“We relied on her for her corporate citizenship,” said Tom Perry, chief financial officer and an alumnus of Austin Peay State University. He graduated in 1973, having been a student of Reagan’s in the APSU College of Business.

It was fitting then that Perry presented a $10,000 check from Delta Dental to help jumpstart the new Reagan Giving Circle program. The check presentation was made November 8th during a reception to launch officially the giving program in honor of Reagan.

New endowment, Reagan Giving Circle, honors longtime APSU marketing professor

Austin Peay State UniversityClarksville, TN – In the late 1960s, soon after earning her bachelor’s degree in business, Dr. Carmen Reagan began making her mark in higher education, teaching business courses at a time when opportunities for women were not as plentiful as they are today.

“The situation for women has definitely improved,” Reagan said. “There are many more opportunities for women today than when I went to college.”

After teaching in colleges and universities throughout Mississippi and at the University of Tennessee-Chattanooga, Reagan came to Austin Peay State University in 1988 as associate professor of marketing. [Read more]

Soldier Attempts Second World Record at Go Commando

Go Commando Half Marathon and 5k

Montgomery County, TN – To say Marc DiBernardo runs for a reason is an understatement. On Saturday, October 15th, this Fort Campbell Soldier will run in the Go Commando Half Marathon presented by CDE Lightband in hopes of breaking his second world record. His mission is to bring awareness to Team Red, White & Blue, a non-profit organization committed to wounded veterans and their families.

DiBernardo began running when he joined the military in 2002. However, he soon took running to a new level. Each time he enters an event, DiBernardo wears a unique piece of racing equipment, a gas mask. What started as a lighthearted approach to fitness turned into a passion. DiBernardo has participated in several military challenge competitions, including Fort Campbell’s ‘Toughest Air Assault Competition’ in 2007. Now he has set his sights to Go Commando and he’s bringing the mask with him.

APSU Foundation selects new members to serve for 2011

The APSU Foundation provides the structure through which the University can work directly with special volunteers and community leaders to enhance the financial well being of the University. The Foundation’s purpose is to financially support the University.

The Foundation is a separate entity and is chartered by the state, with the authority to receive private gifts in support of the University. Through its executive committee, the Foundation makes its own policy decisions. The University provides administrative support to the Foundation. [Read more]

YMCA partners with Samaritan’s Purse to collect gift-filled boxes for children

YMCANashville, TN – The YMCA of Middle Tennessee will again partner with Samaritan’s Purse to collect gift-filled shoe boxes for children worldwide as part of the annual outreach effort Operation Christmas Child. The Y will join in the local efforts of Operation Christmas Child to collect shoe boxes at all of its 29 centers.

Anyone wishing to fill a shoe box for a child in need may pick up an empty box and list of recommended supplies at any YMCA in the Middle Tennessee and southern Kentucky area. Empty boxes will be available at local Ys until the final collection day. Simply visit a local YMCA to get a box between now and then and return it with your gifts by the November 15th deadline.
