APSU to Have Increased Autonomy with Local Governing Board
Clarksville, TN – Tennessee Governor Bill Haslam has appointed eight individuals to the newly created institutional governing board at Austin Peay State University.
The purpose of the appointments is to give the University increased autonomy to support student success as the state continues its Drive to 55 Initiative. Austin Peay State University’s governing board is one of six to be appointed by the governor, a result of the governor’s FOCUS Act passed by the Tennessee General Assembly earlier this year.

Clarksville, TN – During a special alumni awards ceremony on Saturday, October 24th, Austin Peay State University honored six distinguished individuals as part of its 2015 Homecoming celebration.
This year’s honorees were Outstanding Service Award recipients Maggie Kulback (’77) and Mike O’Malley; Outstanding Young Alumnus Award recipients Michael Wall (’00) and Chad Kimmel (’02); and Outstanding Alumni Award recipients Fred Landiss (’69) and Dr. Joe Greer (’70).
Friends of the Library Fall Book Sale begins Thursday, October 29th

Book Sale Continues Through Halloween
Clarksville, TN – The Friends of the Library Fall Book sale will open Thursday the 29th at 4:00pm with the Friends-only preview until 7:00 pm that evening. Anyone may join the Friends at the door for as little as $5.00.
Thousands of used books from fiction to a myriad of non-fiction subjects to children’s books will be available for purchase. All proceeds from the book sale go to support the public library. The sale continues for the general public on Friday from 9:00am to 5:00pm and on Saturday (Halloween) from 9:00am to 3:00pm.
Fallen Montgomery County Sheriff’s deputy David ‘Bubba’ Johnson to be honored with events Saturday, July 19th

Montgomery County, TN – Two back-to-back events will be held Saturday in honor of fallen Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office Deputy David “Bubba” Johnson.
First, the Inaugural Bubba Johnson Memorial 5K Road Race begins at 8:30am Saturday, July 19th beginning at The Montgomery County Historic Courthouse, Clarksville, TN. There is also a 1-mile “fun run-walk” that will begin and end at Clarksville First Baptist Church.

Clarksville, TN – On Saturday Hilldale Baptist Church played host to third annual Unity Day celebration. The goal of Unity Day is to build a stronger community by recognizing and joining together religious, governmental and business leaders in fellowship.
Unity Day was founded by Treva Gordon, the owner and publisher of the Convenient Shopper Magazine. “I was watching an awards show on television and I was so inspired by the way they honored the pop star’s and the rap artists. It was wonderful; they had the gift bags, bling bling, the limos, and everything that went with it. That was awesome!” she said to herself.

Participate in the 2012 Walk MS event in Clarksville on Saturday, April 28th, and help the Mid South Chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society raise funds for the nearly 9,000 residents living with MS throughout Tennessee.
The MS Walk will be held outside, rain or shine. Walkers will enjoy an event that features a walk at the Hilldale Church of Christ and a fun day with family and friends. Prior to May 31st, walkers will collect contributions from supportive local companies, family and friends. [Read more]

Clarksville, TN – When Austin Peay State University and Murray State meet up Saturday, the Ohio Valley Conference’s most heated rivalry briefly will be put aside as fans unite in the fight against cancer.
In between the games, Wendy’s and Chartwells will be sponsoring the Coaches vs. Cancer Chili and Potato Bar, with all proceeds benefitting Coaches vs. Cancer. The Lady Govs host Murray State at 3:00pm, with the men’s game not set to tip off until 7:00pm Fans are invited to enjoy the pre-game meal while at the same time, joining up in the fight against cancer by making a donation to the American Cancer Society.
