APSU students, Fort Campbell soldiers earn medals at 40th Annual Military Culinary Arts Competitive

Clarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University made its mark on the national stage recently as active duty soldiers, including APSU students, stationed at Fort Campbell traveled to Fort Lee, VA for the 40th Annual Military Culinary Arts Competitive Training Event (MCACTE).
Held March 7th-12th, service members from the U.S. Army, other Department of Defense components and multinational teams squared off for the title of top military chef.

Clarksville-Montgomery County Humane Society’s Wags to Witches raises almost $13,000

Clarksville, TN – On Saturday, the Humane Society of Clarksville-Montgomery County held their annual Wags to Witches Fur Ball Bash on Saturday, raising almost $13,000 that will go to help fund their operations over the coming year.
The Humane Society of Clarksville-Montgomery County uses the funds to provide low-cost Spay/Neuter vouchers, Pet Fostering, along with counseling and education services. They are also working to establish the first low cost Spay-Neuter clinic in our community which will help pet owners be able to afford to do their part in controlling the stray dog and cat population in the county.
APSU Culinary Students showcase talent at Chocolate Affair

Clarksville, TN – Students in the culinary degree program at the Austin Peay Center at Fort Campbell teamed up with the Fort Campbell culinary team for the recent Chocolate Affair community event organized by the Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department.
Together, both programs won the “Best Creative Use of Chocolate” Award at the event, which was sponsored by the City of Clarksville and held Saturday, February 9th at the Wilma Rudolph Event Center.
“Wine Around the World” to benefit local Red Cross

Clarksville, TN – “Wine around the World” is coming to Clarksville, Saturday November 12th at the Water Street Events Center. This signature event will be one of a kind for Clarksville, as sponsors will be able to sample wine’s from all over the world, matched with foods paired perfectly with your selections.
“Wine around the World” will benefit the local chapter of the American Red Cross, continuing it’s mission to provide relief to victims of disasters and help people prevent, prepare for, and respond to emergencies.
Tickets are available at the Red Cross office on Madison Street, and are $55.00 in advance. Event chairperson Beth Tanner says the event will feature some of the finest wines from Spain, Germany, California, New Zealand, Portugal and France. [Read more]
