Clarksville, TN – September 11th, 2011 is the 10th anniversary of the terrorist attacks that forever changed the United States and its people. It’s designated as the National Day of Service and Remembrance.

CMCSS seeks Volunteers for Teacher’s Warehouse

“Stuff the Bus” Initative
Clarksville, TN – The Clarksville-Montgomery County Education Foundation is searching for volunteers to assist in the organization and execution of plans to assist with the upcoming Teacher’s Warehouse supply drive.
The Teacher’s Warehouse is a no-cost supply store for area educators to supplement their classrooms with supplies, learning aides, teaching tools and reward incentives for the benefit of students.
AAU Basketball Tournament Volunteers Needed

Clarksville, TN – Volunteers are needed for the 2011 Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) 7th Grade Girls’ Basketball National Championship, hosted by the Clarksville-Montgomery County Convention and Visitors Bureau, which will be held from Sunday, July 10th to Friday, July 15th.
This year, the tournaments will take place during the week at 12 different venues throughout the community. Volunteers are needed on Sunday during the day for registration and at 6:00pm to help line up athletes and work the opening ceremony. Responsibilities during the week-long tournaments will include checking player passes, selling tickets and programs and taking tickets. Volunteers will be needed from 7:30am to 8:30pm, Monday through Friday. [Read more]

Clarksville, TN – The Clarksville Area Chamber of Commerce announces upcoming events during the month of May.
The Great American Clean Up Day will be taking place in Montgomery County on May 7th. Volunteers are encouraged to meet at the Montgomery County Courthouse at 9:00am that morning. This serves as an excellent opportunity to get involved in activities that improve the quality of life in our community. Initiatives include cleaning up parks and playgrounds, planting trees and flowers as well as hosting recycling drives.

Applications due for Miss River Queen and Rivers and Spires Vendors

Clarksville, TN – The Rivers & Spires Festival is currently accepting applications for the Miss River Queen and Teen Pageants as well as applications for volunteers and vendors.
Miss River Queen and Teen:
The 2011 pageant will be held Saturday, March 26th, 2011 in Clement Auditorium on the campus of Austin Peay State University. The Rivers & Spires Festival hosts this yearly beauty pageant for women 15 to 27 years-old. The Miss River Queen and River Teen Pageant is a preliminary pageant to the Miss Tennessee USA and Miss Tennessee Teen USA pageant to be held in October 2011. The winners of the 2010 pageant were Miss River Queen Kyndal Hayes of Germantown and Miss River Teen Katie Kennedy of Clarksville. They will both be at the 2011 Pageant to hand over the crown to the next winners.

Fort Campbell School Information

FORT CAMPBELL – Fort Campbell school offices are open every weekday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. this summer parents to enroll their children before school starts Aug. 6. Parents and guardians may pick up registration packets at their child’s assigned school, the Fort Campbell Housing office or at Fort Campbell Schools Central Office located at 77 Texas Avenue. Students are assigned to schools based on their sponsor’s housing assignment. Additionally, applications for free or reduced lunch will be available beginning Monday at the Fort Campbell Schools Central Office. Returning students should receive a new application by mail.
