Clarksville, TN – The Visit Clarksville board of directors announces that Jerry Allbert has been named chairman for the 2017-18 year beginning July 1st, 2017
Allbert is director of the Montgomery County Parks Department and represents District 20 on the County Commission. He has served on the board since 2007 and as chairman in 2009-10.

Visitor Spending Expected to Total $2.5 Million
Clarksville, TN – Clarksville-Montgomery County is poised to welcome nearly 3,000 guests next week for two divisions of the Amateur Athletic Union’s Boy’s 10-and-Under National Basketball Championships.
Since 1999, the city has hosted dozens of regional and national AAU basketball events. This year, 53 teams from 16 states including Utah, New York, Texas, New Jersey, Michigan, Maryland, Louisiana, Indiana and most states bordering Tennessee, will make their way to Clarksville for championship play.

Professional Horseshoe Pitching Tour Making 4th Stop In Clarksville

Clarksville, TN – For horseshoe pitching enthusiasts, the 2017 HP Pro Tour Open Horseshoe Tournament will once again make its way to Clarksville. Montgomery County’s Civitan Park, 650 Bellamy Lane, serves as home to the event, June 3rd-4th, 2017, marking the fourth year that the tour has included Clarksville.
The HP Pro Tour is a series of horseshoe pitching tournaments where competitors try to get as many ringers as possible and walk away with big cash prizes.

With a list totaling almost 70 individuals, Visit Clarksville officials decided to add a new section to their website that would showcase some of the area’s most accomplished residents.

Clarksville hosted Weekend Sporting Events Bring 8,300 people, $3.2 Million to Local Economy

Clarksville, TN – Visit Clarksville welcomed two major events this weekend that, combined, pumped over $3.2 million into the local economy.
The Tennessee Middle School Athletic Association (TMSAA) Track & Field State Championships brought some 2,520 visitors, including 600 athletes, who competed at Austin Peay State University’s Fortera Stadium for top medals in discus throw, high jump, long jump, shot put along with multiple track events.

Clarksville to host Five Days of Welcome Home Veterans Events in September

Clarksville, TN – Visit Clarksville, in conjunction with the Montgomery County Veterans Coalition, is proud to host its third annual Welcome Home Veterans event September 13th-17th, 2017.
Multiple activities will be happening during the five-day period to celebrate and honor veterans, with an emphasis on Vietnam veterans.

Clarksville, TN – On the heels of announcing that the city will host the 2017 Toyota East West All-Star Classic, Visit Clarksville officials have landed another state-wide football event for 2017. The Tennessee Future Stars will host their annual Tennessee-Kentucky games for seventh and eighth graders in Clarksville on June 17th at Austin Peay State University’s Fortera Stadium.
“We are excited to host another major football event here in Clarksville at Austin Peay,” said Visit Clarksville Executive Director Theresa Harrington. “I can’t emphasize enough how important the upgrades to Fortera Stadium and the cooperation of the APSU athletic staff have been to recruiting football events.”
Clarksville to Host 2017 Football All-Star Classic

Clarksville, TN – The 2017 Toyota East-West Football All-Star Classic will be held in Clarksville, Tennessee at Austin Peay State University on Friday, December 8th, 2017. The All-Star Classic is organized by the Tennessee Athletic Coaches Association (TACA) and is made up of the state’s top 88 senior football players who are selected from more than 400 nominations.
“During the process of competing for the TSSAA state championship, we captured the attention of folks at TACA,” said Visit Clarksville Executive Director Theresa Harrington.
