Clarksville Civil War RoundtableClarksville, TN – The next meeting of the Clarksville (TN) Civil War Roundtable will be on Wednesday, July 20th, 2016 at the Bone & Joint Center, 980 Professional Park Drive, right across the street from Tennova Medical Center. This is just off Dunlop Lane and Holiday Drive and only a few minutes east of Governor’s Square mall.

The meeting begins at 7:00pm and is always open to the public. Members please bring a friend or two – new recruits are always welcomed.

Austin Peay Visiting Writers Series welcomes essayist Ann Pancake on April 12th

Austin Peay State University - APSUClarksville, TN – Author and essayist Ann Pancake, a native West Virginian with a bit of a wanderlust, has traveled the world in search of a story.

After graduating from West Virginia University, Pancake earned an M.A. in English from the University of North Carolina before teaching English in, among other places, American Samoa, Japan and Thailand. Even now, Pancake lives in Seattle, teaching in the low-residency MFA program at Pacific Lutheran University.

APSU nursing program ranked among best in nation

Austin Peay State University - APSUClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University’s School of Nursing is one of the top nursing programs in the eastern United States, according to a recent survey by the website www.NurseJournal.org

APSU was ranked No. 32 in the journal’s inaugural list, beating out prestigious nursing programs at places such as Yale University, Johns Hopkins University, the University of Pennsylvania and the University of North Carolina.

Austin Peay State University Department of Mathematics and Statistics places first in MAA Math Jeopardy Competition

The APSU Math Jeopardy team recently bested 27 other schools to take home the 2015 Mathematical Association of America (MAA) Jeopardy championship at the MAA Southeastern Section meeting, held March 12th-14th on the campus of the University of North Carolina at Wilmington. [Read more]

Famed historian David Goldfield to present new perspective on Civil War on February 4th at APSU

Austin Peay State University - APSUClarksville, TN – In August 1834, an angry Protestant mob entered a Catholic convent outside of Boston, broke windows and furniture and then set the building on fire.

The next morning, the ruins of this small convent smoldered, but the fire of religious unease, which had ignited the riot, would continue to burn for another 30 years.

APSU Provost Lecture Series: History professor Dr. Kristofer Ray to present next session

Austin Peay State UniversityClarksville, TN – An Austin Peay State University history professor, whose expertise is in colonial and revolutionary America, will be the next presenter of the Provost Lecture Series at APSU.

Dr. Kristofer Ray, associate professor of history, will present at 3:00pm, Thursday, March 21st in the Morgan University Center, Room 303. All sessions of the Provost Lecture Series are free and open to the public.

The title of his presentation is “Cherokees and Franco-British Confrontation in the Tennessee Corridor, 1748-1758.” [Read more]
