Alpha Kappa Psi business fraternity chapters at the University of Alabama, the University of Mississippi, Vanderbilt University and the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, were all vying to be named the best chapter in the southern region.

Austin Peay State UniversityClarksville, TN – The effects of an intended audience on students’ critical thinking skills in writing assignments will be the topic of the next Provost Lecture Series at Austin Peay State University.

Dr. Gray Kane, faculty development analyst in APSU’s Center for Teaching and Learning, will present “Intended Audience and Critical Thinking Skills” at 3:00pm, Thursday, September 27th in the Morgan University Center, Room 303.

The article championed his career, mentioning such notable works as his 1964 opera “Natalia Petrovna,” but for those who knew Hoiby, his death left something unfinished – an unperformed flute concerto he wrote 17 years earlier.

Austin Peay State University History Department helps remember War of 1812 at local conference

Austin Peay State UniversityClarksville, TN – In terms of notoriety, the War of 1812 isn’t nearly as popular with the general public as, say, the American Revolution or the Civil War.

But the conflict did have a pivotal impact on the United States, giving us the national anthem, Gen. Andrew Jackson and even Tennessee’s nickname as the “Volunteer State.”
