“Fortnite” animator Kaye Vassey visits with APSU Art Students

Austin Peay State University - APSUClarksville, TN – “Fortnite” lead technical animator Kaye Vassey’s art origin story involves her grandfather’s tractor doodles and, of course, Bob Ross. “My grandfather was a World War II Marine Corps vet – full on Marine Corps tattoo on the arm, the South Pacific war horror stories, the whole thing,” Vassey recalled to an animation class at Austin Peay State University.

“But what he really wanted – his family were plumbers, so he became a plumber – was to be an artist.

Clarksville’s Civil War Roundtable presents Ed Bearss at the Customs House Museum July 18th

The Customs House Museum and Cultural CenterClarksville, TN – On Wednesday, July 18th, Clarksville’s Civil War Roundtable group will host a fundraiser at the Customs House Museum. The event will feature retired Chief Historian of the National Park Service, Ed Bearss, who will be presenting a lecture in the Museum’s Turner Auditorium at 7:00pm.

Ed is a combat wounded U.S. Marine who joined the National Park Service in the 1950s. Starting out at Vicksburg National Military Park as its historian, he rose to be the Chief Historian of the National Park Service and is retired from there as Chief Historian Emeritus. Ed is the most popular speaker on the Civil War lecture circuit today and is world renowned as a battlefield guide. [Read more]
