APSU successful in accreditation process

Austin Peay State University - APSUClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University (APSU) recently completed its fifth-year accreditation review successfully without requiring any additional reports.

The review, which is part of the overall accreditation process from the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC), is completed by institutions approximately half way between the full 10-year reaffirmation process.

Austin Peay State University - APSUClarksville, TN – When Austin Peay State University (APSU) biology assistant professor Dr. Jason Malaney reflects on his undergraduate years at Eastern New Mexico University, he realizes the impact being a first-generation college student had. He didn’t see the hurdles then. He sees them now. 

“In hindsight I had no idea, no concept of what financial aid was, it wasn’t even part of my lexicon, how to get scholarships even,” the Austin Peay State University assistant biology professor, said. “How that works wasn’t even a piece of information for me. The pathway didn’t exist. I had to figure it all out.”

APSU Veterans Upward Bound offering college help (and free pizza) to prospective military students

The first open house is 11:00am-2:00pm August 2nd, 2018 at Room 203 of the McReynolds Building.

APSU names seasoned pilot/flight instructor Charles Weigandt director of proposed rotor wing program

Austin Peay State University - APSUClarksville, TN – Charles W. Weigandt, a 24-year U.S. Army veteran and founding member of the 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment, was recently named director of Austin Peay State University’s proposed Bachelor of Science degree in Aviation Science program, with a concentration in rotor wing (helicopters). He began his new role at APSU on Tuesday, May 1st, 2018.

APSU receives $1.3 million federal grant to open Veterans Upward Bound office on campus

November 9, 2017

Austin Peay State University - APSUClarksville, TN – Military veterans looking to attend college will now have a strong advocate at Austin Peay State University thanks to the recent awarding of a five-year, $1.3 million U.S. Department of Education TRiO grant.

The new grant will allow the University to open a Veterans Upward Bound (VUB) office on campus to serve 125 veterans from Fort Campbell and Houston County, Montgomery County, Robertson County and Stewart County.
