CMCCHF commits $3 million for the new APSU Health Professions Building

Austin Peay State University - APSUClarksville, TN – The Clarksville-Montgomery County Community Health Foundation (CMCCHF) recently committed to a gift of $3 million to the Austin Peay State University Foundation. The gift will be used exclusively to establish the CMC Community Health Foundation Equipment & Building Fund with the APSU Foundation, to support the Health Professions Building and additional equipment needs.

APSU School of Nursing forms partnership with Fisk University

Austin Peay State University - APSUClarksville, TN – Last year, when Fisk University decided to provide a nursing pathway for its students, the Nashville-based school reached out to one of the top programs in the region – the Austin Peay State University (APSU) School of Nursing. Officials at Fisk liked that APSU’s program consistently had a near 100% passing rate for the national licensure test, and Austin Peay State University officials were eager to take advantage of the diversity that Fisk – a historically Black university – offered.

APSU unveils vision for new Health Professions Building

Austin Peay State University - APSUClarksville, TN – On Friday morning, Austin Peay State University (APSU) unveiled its vision for a new Health Professions Building that will one day consolidate the University’s growing healthcare-related programs under one roof.

Those programs include the School of Nursing and the departments of allied health sciences, health and human performance, psychological science and counseling and social work.

APSU’s Brown named dean of College of Behavioral and Health Sciences

Austin Peay State University - APSUClarksville, TN – Dr. Tucker Brown, chair of the Austin Peay State University (APSU) Department of Sociology, was recently named dean of the University’s College of Behavioral and Health Sciences.

Dr. David Denton, former dean of the college, decided to return to the classroom in 2017, leaving the position open. Dr. Rebecca Corvey, professor of nursing, served as interim dean while the University conducted a national search to fill the position.

Austin Peay State University - APSUClarksville, TN – In August, Sarah Huff, a former high school dropout, will board a plane for the United Kingdom to begin graduate school at The London School of Economics and Political Science—a university recently labeled “the world’s leading dedicated social science institution.”

“I’ll admit I was a bit hesitant to apply because I don’t have a lot of the background that people have when they go to these bigger schools,” Huff said recently.

Austin Peay State University to begin new Center for the Study of Military Life

Austin Peay State UniversityClarksville, TN – The College of Behavioral and Health Sciences at Austin Peay State University announce the creation of the Center for the Study of Military Life.

The purpose of this center is to support research activities that seek to develop a more in-depth understanding of all aspects of military life as they impact individual service members, military families and communities and nation.
