APSU to celebrate Women in Athletics April 5th-6th with focus on Title IX

Clarksville, TN – It’s time to laud all current and former female athletes at Austin Peay State University.
The second Women in Athletics celebration, scheduled for April 5th-6th, will spotlight the 40th anniversary of Title IX, monumental federal legislation first enacted in 1972 that requires gender equity in sports and other key educational programs receiving federal funding.
The law states, “No person in the United States shall, on the basis of sex, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any education program or activity receiving Federal financial assistance.” [Read more]
Clarksvillians Celebrate the New Year

Clarksville, TN – Residents of Clarksville-Montgomery County gathered at area bars and pubs to celebrate the New Year last night.
Crowds were heavy and spirits was high as the end of 2012 approached, and 2013 was poised to begin. I traveled around Clarksville to document the New Years festivities.
APSU to begin new concert series Friday at The Gilroy

Clarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University National Alumni Association will begin a three-concert series leading up to Homecoming.
The City Lights Concert Series, sponsored by The Gilroy, Budweiser of Clarksville and APSU Alumni Relations, will begin Friday, October 12th. APSU alumni, friends and fans are invited.
All shows will start at 8:00pm at The Gilroy, located on the corner of University Avenue and Main Street, with doors opening at 6:00pm. [Read more]
Austin Peay State University ‘True Colors’ Homecoming 2012 is October 24th-27th

Clarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University will celebrate Homecoming 2012 with the theme, “True Colors.”
Homecoming is October 24th-27th. Here is a list of events planned as part of the week long celebration. Many of the events are open to the public.
Some of the events include a Student Talent Show, Golf Tournament, Alumni Receptions, 5K Run, Homecoming Parade, Homecoming Football game and so much more.
APSU breaks ground on New Math and Computer Science Building August 17th

Clarksville, TN – Earlier this year, a narrow brick house off Ford Street, behind the Austin Peay State University Hemlock Semiconductor Building, was torn down. All that remains in its absence is a dirt lot, with a few patches of grass and gravel covering it.
At 10:00am on August 17th, shovels will plunge into that dry earth to mark the beginning of construction on APSU’s new $6.7 million mathematics and computer science building. The two-story classroom building, designed by Rufus Johnson Associates, is projected to open in the spring of 2014.

Clarksville, TN – Celebrating New Year’s Eve means many different things to individuals. Some people need to be with lots of friends; others prefer to celebrate with only one special person. The Clarksville New Year’s Eve scene was full of fun, fellowship and fantastic flutes filled with bubbly concoctions as people gathered together to bring in 2012. An overview of the party scene includes not only clubs with music, dancing and friendship but special venues where late night frolicking in the pool can help to light up the night.
