Austin Peay celebrates 90 years of Residence Life

Clarksville, TN – In the fall of 1931, Austin Peay Normal School students eagerly watched construction crews put the finishing touches on an impressive new dormitory.
The Myra McKay Harned Hall, with its “columns and polish marble floors,” would soon become the centerpiece of a young campus crowded with old, deteriorating academic buildings, left over from the defunct schools – Stewart College and Montgomery County Masonic College – that once occupied the Austin Peay grounds.

Clarksville, TN – The All State student newspaper at Austin Peay State University (APSU) recently earned two national Apple Awards at the Spring National College Media Convention hosted in New York City in March.
Both awards honored a special edition called “Rebuild, Reflect” commemorating the 20-year anniversary of the tornado that hit APSU and Downtown Clarksville.

Clarksville, TN – The All State student newspaper at Austin Peay State University (APSU) earned five regional awards at the Southeast Journalism Conference’s Best of the South Awards held at Middle Tennessee State University in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, February 14th-16th.
Students and advisers from colleges and universities across the southeast attended the regional conference.

APSU graduate student Celeste Malone lands highly competitive Twitter editorial internship

Clarksville, TN – Since 2009, Celeste Malone has been an active Twitter user. From watching live broadcasts to simply tweeting, there is always something for her to explore.
This summer, the APSU Communication graduate student will be using her Twitter and news reporting skills for Periscope — Twitter subsidiary — as an editorial intern in San Francisco, California. She was selected out of 65,000 applications for the position.
